Dark horse: SBC Men's Basketball Tourney
Outside the top 5 seeds coming into the tourney this weekend, who do you see as this year's dark horse team that could pull off 4 wins in a row to make it to the title? I'm of course going to choose the Toppers. if I wasn't a complete homer I'd lean toward USA or ASU.

This is MT's tourney to lose. There are several teams with the potential to run the table, although I'm not betting on it.

If I have to pick one it's WKU. They'll have their fans and momentum behind them after the disaster at Diddle last Saturday. I do think the potential matchup between MT and Louisiana/North Texas could be the game of the tournament. I could see the Cajuns or Mean Green winning it all.

It is indeed MT's tourney to lose, and the depth of our team should serve us well for 3 games in 3 days.

Strongly agree with this statement.

Not sure Louisiana can do it without 6 players on the court. 04-cheers Sory, couldn't resist.

Cajuns are having serious problems right now. We may be UNT. But dont think we have what it takes to win the tourney.

Since TROY took the season series against the toppahs and has won 2 in a row against F_U...I say we're the darkhorse...

ULM is my dark horse pick this year. They are so quiet this week its like they are not even in Hot Springs.

I voted with my heart, which often gets in the way of rational thought.

I have not seen north Texas play since the loss of a few players....but they beat us down with a full roaster. I don't see Troy beating WKU a third time. We owe UL one...

ASU is technically playing better right now, but our draw is killer. we dont match up with FAU very well, and MTSU is the quarterfinal opponent.

The issue that concerns me is Brady is getting outcoached, and that shouldnt happen.

Brady's issue is being out-recruited. He's a damn good floor coach.

Cajuns are done this year IMO.

Best defender/starting point guard and last years freshman of the year suspended today. Not making the tourney this weekend.

As far as sleepers go, I want to like WKU and think they could potentially be a semifinalist if things go well. But FIU is not to be overlooked. That's a talented bunch.

My dark horse is South Alabama. They've won six of their last eight. Mychal Ammons is really playing well and their front line is, in my opinion, the best in the league.

Having said that, I think one of the top five seeds will win the tournament.

I picked USA. A great rebounding team always has a chance, if their shooters will produce.

I voted WKU. If they can sneak up and beat MT (which I'm still bitter about), then I have a feeling that they can do it to anyone.

If MTSU, Denver, or USA wins, I doubt they will be in the play in game. If anyone else wins the tourney, then yes, most likely play in game.

I already ate crow this season for saying "No way FAU doesn't finish on top", it was a tough year and no one knows why, we lost only one player from last year. "Not hungry enough" is what coach says.

But with that being said, look what UALR did last year, no one thought that, so it really could be anyone's tournament, I just hope the best team takes it to represent the Belt for us... may the best team win!04-cheers

Really? USA?!

If anyone besides MTSU or Denver wins, they are in the "playin" game, which really isn't a playin game. It's the
first round.

I forgot they expanded the field this year and that there will be 4 "play in" games. I won't call something 1st round when only 8 out of 68 teams play. If USA wins the tourney their record will be 20-11. I believe they could escape the "play in" if there was only 1, but since there's 4, I don't know. Maybe they could get a 15 seed. If they were to win, I it would depend on any upsets in other conference tourneys.
