If the Rockets are able to win in Dekalb (they should...but on the road, nothing is ever guaranteed), that would mean the Rockets will have went 4-1 vs. NIU this year in the 3 major sports. At worst it will be 3-2. Not bad against a worthy divisional adversary, especially considering Illinois is supposed to be the basketball state of the two and ironically, Ohio is supposed to be the football state.

How do you figure? Basketball we won three and if we win tomorrow that makes four. We won in track. That's 5-0 in the major sports.

Northern Illinois is a distant rural podunk college that is not our rival.
This thread seems completely unnecessary.

NIU is "a" rival. Not "the" rival. And only in football.

NIU has only lost their past three games (all on the road) by a combined 15 points. There's no doubt that there'll be a little extra pep in their step on Senior Night. If we come to play however, there's no reason this shouldn't be a comfortable double digit win.

The Rockets seem to be playing with a combination of purpose and urgency topped off with more that a dash of conviction.

Last week NIU had EMU down by 13 in the second half at EMU so I won't be surprised if tomorrow's game is another barn burner just like most of UT's games.

You are right...they aren't a rival. They are a worthy divisional adversary, though.

Me personally? I'll take a MACC Championship (and a win over Toledo) in football over everything else.
But, props to you guys for the wins in the other sports. And, kudos for the huge improvement in Mens B-ball from last year to this year.

I would have LOVED to have won the MAC Championship in football. However, I would rather have all those wins in the other sports and a loss in football because of what it means to the overall health of the athletic department.

Personally, I'll take MAC wins in cross country, soccer and swimming (so far) but I guess its a matter of personal preference. Wins over NIU are viwed here as being on a par with wins over Ball State, CMU, etc and I guess that's the difference. I don't really think much about NIU unless someone brings it up. But you guys are on a little run in football lately so the NIU football fans have reason to be happy. NIU sports fans not so much.

I'm admittedly short-sighted but MACC in football, throw in a win over either Boise or OSU and I'm alright with o-fers in the other sports.

We did well in soccer and volleyball this year too. Soccer team got some good recruits too, from what I'm hearing. As a football fan, I'll take a football win over all the others though.

The loss to the Hounds actually gave Toledo a better bowl game than what the Rockets would have gotten due to the MAC tie ins. (except maybe Mobile)

I will say, and several of your posters said the same thing, that Mobile was the absolute best of the bowl experiences I've had. And I've been to every Huskie bowl game starting in 2004. FYI, Boise in 2010 was pretty cool also. Great town, friendly people, plenty of stuff to do around there and the locals really support the game. The drawback, of course, is the distance and expense of getting there.
Everyone Huskie fan I talked to hopes we get a chance to go back to Mobile in the near future. Loved it!
