None of the powers want to stop it. It's like DI football teams playing I-AA teams. A win now counts toward a bowl game. You used to only be able count it once every 4 years. Why shouldn't Arkansas bring in MoState for $300,000 rather than a Sun Belt team for $900,000? They could probably use that $600,000 they save.

It's getting old talking about this, but we will play a nonDI team as long as we are allowed to do so. It's cheap and it doesn't hurt our RPI. I read an article somewhere recently where many teams do this for those 2 reasons. In fact, they mentioned a team (I believe Utah) who got into the NCAA tournament despite a loss to a nonDI team. They pointed out that if they had lost to bottom feeder DI team (i.e. UCA) it might have hurt their RPI enought that they wouldn't have gotten a bid. The nonDI loss simply "never happened".

But if it is like it "never happened", why play it? I really only like going to games that count. Now exhibition games don't count either, but they are not supposed to. If we want a game that basically "counts" like a practice or something, why not just play an exhibition game against a non Division I?

I wonder if it's because the last one we played(Harding), we got beat.

They count, they just are not going on RPI.
