RE: Quo's 39 Programs Better than UC
I want to bump this to see if Quo ever responds. This is kind of funny.
But Orange Crush, c'mon man. Whatkind of homerism is that? There is no conceivable way to rank Syracuse above either UCLA or Indiana in the program rankign category. Might even had to add UConn to that list with that third title.

FWIW, in another thread i listed 30 or so programs with more MARKET VALUE/MEDIA APPEAL than Cincy, which is what i claimed to begin with. I NEVER claimed there were 40 programs with more HISTORICAL ACHIEVEMENTS than Cincy.

I'd argue that you probably undervalue UC in at least 1 regard... UC got the Big East not only on TV in Cincinnati but also Dayton. Those markets are #35 and #63 accordingly, and in a couple years it is expected that Cincinnati and Dayton will become 1 DMA (similar to Minneapolis/St.Paul, Dallas/Ft. Worth). That would put the combined market at #21, which would certainly be enticing to TV executives. Don't think the Big East doesn't tout this to the networks, let alone point out the large population of UC grads in Dayton, Ohio (of which I am 1).

As soon as Boeheim leaves, the CUSE will go down the toilet. What is he now 71-72? He only has a couple of years. Same with UConn. As soon as Calhoun leaves, Yikes. We had a heck of a time finding a replacement for Huggins. Cincinnati got lucky and found Cronin. When other schools call Cronin, he tells them to call his agent and get him a long term deal in Cincinnati. Cincinnati is good for 30 years at basketball. Pitino only has 4 years. Should be interesting to see what UL does at that point.

Boeheim is 67. He's, probably, got a few years left in him. Mike Hopkins is the coach-in-waiting. Hopkins handles a lot of the recruiting and does a lot of coaching in practices. He's 41, I believe. If he can make good game-time decisions we'll be in good shape coaching wise.
UConn doesn't have a designated coach-in-waiting, so I assume they'll doll out some $$$ for their next coach.
Pitino's son could be a candidate for Louisville, depending on his success at FIU.

Don't worry about UL, not only do we have the $$$, but this is a destination job.

It's amazing to me how uneducated people are to our market as a whole. Its as if these people have no understanding of the size of some of the cities around us. As you indicated Cincinnati's addition brought Big East athletics to both Dayton and Cincinnati. I'd argue Big East athletics were also exposed in other places they never were before as well like Toledo, Columbus, Cleveland*, Detroit, Indianapolis**, Lexington** and all parts in between. Sure we don't dominate those markets, but there are pockets of UC alums/fans in those areas, not to mention people who have no affiliation with us but our familiar enough to be interested in watching our basketball/football teams.
* Cleveland likely had some exposure due to proximity to Pittsburgh but I'm guessing UC grew this somewhat.
** Louisville brings in those markets as well.
