What sport should Louisville add that could be profitable?
I would say hockey. I remember teams like the Bullfrogs & Panthers here in Louisville and they could easily get 4,000-8,000 per game at Broadbent arena and Freedom Hall. There is a decent amount of hockey fans and the Louisville Cardinals could provide that need while adding athletic revenue. Would people pay $7.00-$20.00 per ticket to watch the CARDS in action? I think so. Don't know how the ins & outs of college hockey work but it could do well here. A Louisville goalie mask would be sick! Any thoughts or other suggestions that could be a money maker in a big city with a great college team and no pro sports?

Tom Jurich works quick. 04-jawdrop

Louisville Hockey

From the website:

This season, Cards will play against teams such as Ole Miss Rebels, Georgia Bulldogs, Vanderbilt Commodores, Cincinnati Bearcats, Indiana Hoosiers, and Eastern Kentucky Colonels - just to name a few.

I bet many on The Big East board don't know we have a hockey team.

Man I never Knew either. Guess the name of this post should be (How does UofL market hockey better?) They do a good job with baseball, volleyball, soccer & womens bball. I wonder if football & basketball are paying for hockey or are we making money from it? We should be if advertised right. Must be an expensive sport.

I believe Louisville Hockey is club level. Not NCAA sanctioned to qualify for The Frozen Four.

coach bobby v's kid nick valvano plays on the team. on the back of his jersey it reads VALVAND. the friday night games start at 12am. i say fix those issues first.

and not to bag on hockey any because i am a hockey fan, but i think for ncaa level hockey to work here we need a) a minor league team playing in the city somewhere and b) an honest attempt to go after a frozen four.

here's a sport no one has mentioned that i think really could work- men's volleyball.
