Kent State vs. Ohio U.
I don't know how in the world we can beat OU. They are beating the piss out of Akron at the half. 46-27. Could be a really ugly week leading to the 5th seed in the conference tourney.
I hope I am wrong and somehow we figure out how to play as a team, but the change in attitude had better come fast.

Ok is it possible to have a rivalry game in this conference without technical fouls? For crissakes play the freakin game and leave the street crap out of it. Garbage.

Our recent struggles notwithstanding, this has been an EXTREMELY enjoyable game to watch.

What was the "street crap," exactly?

When was the last time a MAC team had Kent St and Akron down 30 or more in the same season.

RE: Kent State vs. Ohio U.
Quick thoughts here:
Ohio University is a different team at home compared to on the road. Remember Akron beat them at the JAR earlier in the year. I will give OU credit for going into Buffalo and winning, however.
The Bobcats overall record speaks for itself, though, and Wednesday isn't going to be easy.
As for Akron going down hard...it was bound to happen. They are deep and talented. But not without flaws. A few of those flaws showed up last night and it escalated and all of z sudden OU is kicking the cramp out of them.
Before beating Buffalo and Akron it is worth noting that Ohio U. lost at EMU and Toledo. Whether you are a troll coming into this forum to gloat, a homer like myself, an optimist or a pessimist I think we can all agree that its the time of the season where nothing should shock you.
BEAT OHIO!

I swear there is a parallel universe where Kent State was lousy the past decade and is flying all over the court this year.

Prior to the win at Buffalo, OU's only road MAC win had been against NIU. One thing OU has been doing well lately is hitting 3's, something we know the Flashes have not been good at preventing this season.

Take your idiot gloating somewhere else. You are the worst front runner I have ever seen. Your opinions are based solely on what happened last. You'll be off the Groce bandwagon as soon as OU loses next. And back on when they win. Go troll elsewhere.
And that, friends, is ownage.

Which is crazy considering that has been a strength of KSU hoops over the years.

OBJ is generally a good poster and I enjoy the thoughts. But must agree, think he might have a concussion or whiplash from all the quickly switched opinions.

RE: Kent State vs. Ohio U.
In just over 24 hours hopefully the focus around here will simply be on basketball. The Golden Flashes close out the regular season with two at the MAC Center and a shot to grab one of four byes. Two wins will assure it.
Beating Ohio is no easy task. Whether KSU was on a ten game winning streak or the current three game losing streak, Ohio can play. Kent State, however, matches up well with the Bobcats despite the trouncing in Athens earlier this year.
Ohio has a talented back court. With DJ Cooper, Walter Offutt and Nick Kellog combining for about 35 points per game. But, Kent State can match that backcourt with Porrini, Holt, Guyton and Eric Gaines. Throwing Cooper out of a rhythm is a must Wednesday night.
Under the hoop its a similar story. Ohio has a few guys that can get after it. Baltic and Keely carry most of the load in the paint but like most MAC teams, Ohio has a second group that can hurt you as well. Justin Greene is going to have to do yeomans work on the glass and in the paint. If you look at the stats, this is a team that Kent should be able to stay with on the boards. If Manns and Evans get after it a bit, thats icing. The Golden Flashes find a way on Wednesday...
Kent State 69
Ohio University 63
Randal Holt with 18 including some big ones down the stretch.

fallsdog: Thoughts on Jon Smith? He's been a defensive dynamo of late.

JSF,
I notice that Smith has started a few games recently and then Keely comes in quickly to replace him. Is that to jumpstart the defense to get a quick advantage?

Partially. Jon's really good at tipoffs and Keely tends to play better off the bench. Sometimes Keely will sub for Baltic instead. OU's running a 10-man rotation, so there's a lot of subbing.

Can anyone answer this question:
Does the winner of this ballgame lock down a bye to the quarterfinals?
