You may be right....but Philly.com implies that the Temple football only vote is basically done.

http://articles.philly.com/2012-02-23/sp...all-deal/2

A big part of this yearlong saga: Villanova had not wanted Temple in the Big East for all sports, and originally had the support of other basketball schools, given how much Villanova had contributed to league coffers with deep runs in the NCAA tournament. But that support waned after the league lost Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and West Virginia, and took in some lesser basketball schools as replacements.

It appears that the Big East already has the approval of conference basketball schools to add Temple for football only.

Yeah football only. What eventually needs to happen and I think it will is Big East, Temple, and Villanova will need to air out their differences and each need to agree on concessions ie recruiting, basketball game scheduling, and Villanova football moving up to the Big East when the time comes. The last thing Big East needs is animosity between the schools.

FB only in 2012 - all sports when all of the new schools arrive in 2013. No concessions and both schools and the BE get a great city rivalry for all sports. The only concession in the deal is that Nova gets to move up for FB in 2015 when Navy joins the conference.

I don't think Nova football will happen. With the AQ probably no longer existing and the fact that Temple would be in for all sports it basically takes away the two incentives for Nova spending millions on the football gamble. They will now continue to focus there money on basketball to try to stay ahead of Temple in that sport

And a biggie! Nova has nowhere to play... the PPL Park idea did not fly...

And wanker is just another in a long line of Nova trolls... the Nova trolls are the worst!

If I am Temple, I only accept an all sports invitation. Even if the entry is staggered over different years, I'd leverage the need for a 2012 football program to get the all sports invite. Otherwise I'd tell them we'll take a FB only invite, and we'll join as soon as we can without having to pay for an early exit.

In typical Big East fashion, they continue to be reactive not proactive. Leaving others with huge leverage to use against them.

I agree, Shannon. Temple was screwed by The BEast before. If I was in charge at Temple, I'd demand all-sports membership or none at all...

Adding Temple and Memphis will keep BE basketball on top:

Maybe, but it would be very difficult if we lose Louisville.

It would depend on the level that Houston re-emerges. If they're Houston circa early 80's- I think there's a real good chance that the new big east is better than it already is(even with Louisviile gone). You have Memphis, Houston, and Temple- then wild cards in UCF, SMU.

Also you have to throw in the fact that if Louisville left, that's when there would quite possibly be another basketball team added- wouldn't have to be football even- as we'd have 12 for football. That would make it 4 good teams in, 4 good teams out.

One thing is for sure. Just prior to the invite, our recruiting got notched up tremendously...

So, if the present coach doesn't do it, he'll leave some very good pieces for the next one.

Good site for all that is Temple. Guy is not a no it all yahoo, rather a good fan. The site is pretty in depth. The last post was 20 hours ago. I'm sure we all know a guy who knows a guy but the proof (or possible proof seems legit)

After reviewing the above link it appears to me the nBe is just waiting for the ink to dry on the official announcement. We don't want Meatball smearing the wet ink with his greasy hands.

So it appears likely that the addition of Temple plus the release of the schedule will both happen very close together, maybe even at the same time?
