Rivals: BYU in serious talks w/ B12; to join w/ Cards for 2013?
Click link and scroll down to "Big 12 Rumors."

http://byu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1335173

If accurate, this pretty much confirms our Louisville friends' contention that they are leaving soon. Article says BYU is more flexible with the B12 this time around, and the addition of BYU and Louisville for 2013 will likely be announced after the new commissioner is in place on July 1.

I know. And all of you stuck by me when people were doubting me, too. 04-cheers

I wish you the best of luck. Just sorry we're going to miss you again. Gotta keep up that OOC BB game, at the very least.

Me too. Louisville, Memphis and Cincinnati should play each other every year regardless of their conference. I know you took some grief last year. I wish Memphis well. 04-cheers

On Wednesday, the 80-year-old Neinas announced that he will be step aside effective the end of June with the anticipation that a new commissioner will be in place by no later than July 1. Leading candidates for the job reportedly include current Conference USA commissioner Britton Banowsky, NCAA interim executive VP of championships Greg Shaheen, West Virginia athletic director Oliver Luck and Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick.

I'm not posting this in doubt. I am just wandering what Louisville fans think of the possibility of Banowsky taking over?

BYU has 6 games scheduled already for 2013, and 5 for 2014, 2015. They would have to drop a lot of games and pay penalties if this were true. As it is, I'm betting BYU won't come to terms with the B12 anytime soon.

That's been their M.O. for awhile now...

I don't think he could be any worse than meatball. I mean John Marinatto. 05-stirthepot

Great point. At the same time they could push some of these games back as well.

I thought the whole time it would all go down in 2015. I never doubted Wilkie because from what I've seen from him, he's a good poster. But 2015 just seems like the "it" season to do it. I am anxious to see how it will all turn out. Navy is Indy joining in 2015... I just kinda figured that's when it would ultimately go down.

No way man LOL! Marinatto just handed Banowsky his ass. Banowsky was to focused on wanting a majority Texas conference. He'll get his wish and expect him to bend over everytime when Texas comes calling for something it wants. I hope someone else gets it for the sake of the Big 12. I will miss Louisville in the Big East but being invited would be incredible for Louisville and I'll be happy for you either way.

Louisville and BYU are the best two candidates for big12 and if it happens then good luck to them. It could be announced in 2012 but UL won't be leaving until 2013 at the earliest.
The Big East will then turn and raid someone from the Alliance, there is a pecking order and as we will see when the tv and bowl deals are redone the Big East will remain the sixth best choice as a conference

Or, the BE could stay at 11 for FB until Navy enters, assuming no other defections, and assuming Temple is still coming in.

If the BYU negotiation falls apart or they want to go bigger than 12 look for Cincy and Rutgers to be next in line. Not necessarily in that order. Rutgers has friends in WVU and don't let the series talks breakdown fool you but Oklahoma as well. David Boren has mentioned us before and our ADs have a strong relationship.
