I'm not posting this in doubt. I am just wandering what Louisville fans think of the possibility of Banowsky taking over?
Might make it easier to bring in UC, USF,Memphis along with us
If the BYU negotiation falls apart or they want to go bigger than 12 look for Cincy and Rutgers to be next in line. Not necessarily in that order. Rutgers has friends in WVU and don't let the series talks breakdown fool you but Oklahoma as well. David Boren has mentioned us before and our ADs have a strong relationship.

I see Rutgers future in the Acc first, the Big 10 second. I just cant picture Rutgers in the Big 12. Might as well stay in the BE until the acc or Big 10 come calling.
I personally think we're going nowhere. The ACC is never calling to reunite us with Cuse, Pitt and BC. The Big Ten definitely isn't calling. The Big 12 is actually the most realistic to call but the weirdest fit.
it's the weirdest fit BUT it just may be the best; I know a lot of WVU fans want the Big 12 to invite Rutgers over pretty much any school except for Clemson and Florida State
WVU draws a lot of students from that part of the country and has a lot of alumni up there as well
I'm betting that other Big 12 schools have alumni in that area as well.
Personally, I don't want BYU. Makes no sense for the Big 12 to expand westward right now.

Would be funny if Oliver Luck bolted WVU so he could move back to TX as Big 12 Commish...as then rumors would fly he pushed WVU to the Big 12 just to get the Commish job.
Doubt it happens...but it would certainly be a fun "what if?"
It just might be Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick who gets the job, who knows?
He was the runner up to Dan Beebe for the job last time and he is very tight with Deloss Dodds.....
IMO it'll be either Shaheen or Swarbrick...
The only way I could see Swarbrick taking that job is if important people at Notre Dame don't want him to stay there.
I could see Swarbrick taking the job for more money, Wedge...

Back to the OP.....just thinking out loud....if UofL is going to make the move....say for 2013.....it sure would be a lot cheaper to announce before the end of March. If you wait till after July.....that pushes you into a new academic year.
For UofL to get out for 2013.....they would have to pay the $10 million plus whatever would have to be negotiated to leave prior to the end of the 2015 season. 27 months from July 2012 pushes you to October 2014.....which means under that scenario Louisville would be on the hook through July 1st, 2015.
Another thought....unless the B12 is going to go ahead and renegotiate the Fox deal.....I am not so sure the B12 would want BYU or Louisville prior to 2015.

I agree about the announcement date. That struck me, too. I'm sure UL would likely buy out early, but no sense in making it harder, if it can be avoided. Also, if UL and/or BYU goes in, I'm pretty sure they can renegotiate, and I think that would have been discussed beforehand.

It is called "The exporting of Notre Dame influence into positions of influence within the BCS and NCAA"
To me Notre Dame gains more by Swarbrick taking that job then they do by hoarding him at Notre Dame.

And the Big XII can't likely renegotiate the TV deal until after it expires (2015, IIRC). The deal was written for 12 teams and they successfully got the TV partners to keep the same overall payout with only 10 teams. So unless the 10 teams in the Big XII are willing to share the pot 12 ways instead of 10, nobody's coming in until they can renegotiate. They could argue about going to 14 or 16 to get more TV money sooner than later, but I don't think they're willing to do that, seeing how little the bump the ACC got for adding Syracuse and Pitt.
Now, if they ask Louisville after the new commish arrives in July to leave for 2015, that makes sense if they are only going to 12.

I can't imagine being excited about joining a conference with Bevo and the Sooner Schooner. Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, and A&M left for a reason. Texas is toxic.
If you see people running from a burning house, who in their right mind would want inside?

Kind of like Virginia Tech, Miami, Boston College, West Virginia, Pitt, and Syracuse?

I agree with this. I'll be completely astonished if Louisville goes to the Big 12 before 2015.

For what it's worth, I generally agree with this, except for the possibility that the new Big XII commish may get new steering orders from the presidents and may well have new ideas himself. But I really doubt the Big XII extends an invitation to Louisville or anyone else until the early 2013 time window. Louisville would probably not join until July 1st 2015, though they could choose to pay up for the earlier exit. BYU, on the other hand, would have few extra exit penalties, and thus could join earlier. But I really doubt that ESPN and Fox will want to come to the table early.
Even for Louisville or BYU to get invitations in 2013, ESPN and Fox would have to be willing to pre-negotiate or at least proffer key aspects of their future deal.

That's been their M.O. for awhile now...
Wouldn't you guys say you're being awfully selective here on just pointing out that BYU has a lot of future games to get out of if they want to move into the Big 12. Here is Pitt, Cincy, Rutgers, Clemson, SMU and Air Force....
I don't see it fair to just point out BYU as the only 1 that needs to did out of a hole.
Just a note--for BYU's future schedule, the overview page http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/mtn-west...ougars.php doesn't tell you everything. There are a bunch of games scheduled for a certain year that aren't listed there.
