Fallsdog either isn't hearing what I am saying or chooses not to believe it. The seniors I am referring to are cancer. They don't care and aren't going to change their behavior or attitude in the last two weeks. Anyone who doesn't respect coaching and/or the tradition that has been built can just tap out. The other problem is, at least one of the guys I am talking about has been very impressionable on at least one of our younger players.

The fact is, at least in my opinion, that you build with a steady supply of 4-year players, then judiciously add some tranfers and JUCO's, as the "icing on the cake", as it were, or to replace some freshmen recruits that didn't pan out and left. Don't forget, too, about Eric Haut. Many forget that he wasn't a 4 year player. Also Calloway, a JUCO, was a starter on the 1998-99 team. It seems that Kent State is now trying to have the proper mix.

Kent76, we're on the same page then. I agree with using JC players to supliment the 4 year guys. From how he put his first class together I'm thinking Sendy agrees too.

As far as this team goes, I would start practice tomorrow with a 10 minute film session of Anthony Wilkins talking to the team before the CoC game. I'd just loop the clip of him telling them, "When you’re out there on the floor your represent yourself but you also represent us." over and over. Not sure it matters though, if they don't understand or respect what previous teams have built at Kent St. by now then they probably never will.

danny, in addition to being a big Kent State fan I am also a big Paul Simon fan. Perhaps my favorite line is from the song The Boxer...

"the man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest, mmmmm mmmm mmmm, mmmm mmmm mmm."

dannyb73, the two to whom you are referring don't bother me much - they will be gone soon enough- but your stating that they are influencing at least one other young player is chilling, indeed. The question is, then, why is the coach putting up with them? [/u]

They should make a contest during a timeout of the next game. Free throw shooting. The contestant that makes the most shots wins a full-ride NCAA scholarship and a spot on the team. It might not be the best player on the team, but they will have more school pride than a handfull of vets.

That's a good question. One that I cannot answer as I haven't personally spoken to the man in charge. I assume, because like you said, they will be gone soon enough. Unfortunately, young men are impressionable.

Fallsdog, I saw Paul Simon in concert late last year. And in 2004 was in the front row in Vegas for a S&G concert at MGM Grand. Good stuff.

As for JCs, I have a feeling that we with our class coming in, we will see one or two more JCs added to the class. As bad as we are right now, when 4 of your starters are seniors, stop gap action is required.

I saw Paul Simon late last year in Akron (I'm sorry). Was in the front row for a Simon and Garfunkel (remember him) concert at Cleveland's Public Hall in 1968 or 1969. I can't remember because I was only 2 then.

Yeah I can see that happening too. Mainly because someone always transfers so a scholly opening up wouldn't be a shock and we could use a big man with some experience. I'm expecting 1 JC big man to be added at some point. I really don't care where recruits come from as long as they're committed to the program and listen to the coach. Of course, they have to be able to play too.

Don't worry. They looked exactly the same and sang the same exact songs.

So great Porrini is infecting Kris Brewer! Ignoring the coaches and now infecting the youth. Hopefully he doesnt pass him the turnover bug his caught this year as well. Hope Kris gets his house in order as he has a ton of the dreaded "potential" word! I do think Coach may have lost some of the team when let Manns back. 5 years removed from high school and a # of missteps later we should have just been done with him around the holidays.
