College football ruining college football
Is the current state of the game going to ruin what was a great spectator sport??? More and more, fans are becoming frustrated with the current events of conference realignment. What started as exciting news 2 years ago of a couple of teams changing conferences has become a complete upheaval of all stability in the sport. Conferences are now becoming nation wide, resulting in long term rivalries being ended, Texas-Texas A&M, and fans being left out in the cold. Road trip games will become harder to get to, and more expensive. As conferences and teams fight for more media exposure, more games will be played on days other then the traditional Saturday afternoons.
We are currently in the Golden Age of college football, stadiums filled to capacity of over 100,000 people, rediculous amounts of money being paid from TV networks to broadcast the games, universities making millions off this product. A product by the way that is 19-22 year old kids, they are paid in education and are expected to be model citizens with camaras in their faces more times then not. As the market becomes saturated, interest will wane, and the money will go away. I'm not saying it won't still be a huge event, but how much will this current situation damage college football???
College football was great because of its tradition. As tradition is becoming less important to the people controlling the game, the game will lose its heart and will lose its fans. Saturdays will no longer be filled with the pagentry that we have come to know and love, it will just become NFL-jr. I'm going to mis-quote a C-USA fan here, I don't care who goes where anymore, let the music stop, everybody grab a chair and lets get on with the games already, in every sport.

+1
I was thinking the same thing this past season. I completely stopped watching NFL for the corruption in the sport, only to soon find out college is just as corrupt. Someone should of stepped-in the conference realignment a long time ago. It's all about $, it's political and the small schools are the ones who suffer the most! NO, sorry.... actually, the fans are the ones that suffer the most.... sheesh!

I agree as well.
Its fun to think about the possiblities of movement but this is WAY to early for confrence realignment talk, which is usually taking place after spring sports and into summer.
I will talk and think about it but will not get upset or cranky about where FAU plays in the coming years. All I know is that I will be at all FAU home games and will enjoy myself.

I watched less college football this year than I have ever in my life, and will probably watch even less going forward. Start to finish I probably watched less than 10 games that didn't involve ECU, and less than 5 that didn't involve C-USA teams. I used to watch ESPN games and ESPN in general, but I rarely ever watch it anymore. I am just not going to support a group that is actively supporting the destruction of college football and universities like East Carolina and Southern Miss.
