Thats true, but looking at Houston and SMU's recruiting classes it looks like those will rise. Will be interesting to see if Temple can start landing top recruits again now if this is true.

That's why I think UMass should be looked at as well. That may only happen if Louisville leaves to free up an all-sports slot.

LOL, yeah it makes too much sense but no way Marshall fans would u-turn back to the MAC. Marshall would rather drop to FCS then join the MAC.

So much for a "Western Wing" of the Big East.
If WV is on an island, what is SDSU on? The moon?

Doesn't Temple make 13 for FB? If UL leaves, then the BE at 12 for FB makes more sense then adding another 13th in UMass.

RE: NY Times Reporting Temple in Talks to Big East for All Sports
What we're hearing:
There has been fire and brimstone going on between a few Big East schools over the past week or so.
Apparently, Rutgers has been and is currently rattling some cages in support of bringing Temple on for all sports immediately. RU might have flipped St John's and broken the Villanova block of Temple. It also sounds like Georgetown has been trying to soften Villanova's stance against Temple.
It will be interesting to hear the story that comes out of Providence, regardless of whether Temple does or does not come on board.

What Temple does is if Louiisville stays, they can start doing the title game as early as 2013- not having to wait for Navy in 2015. If Louisville leaves, they would need to add 1 football for the title game.

You're right, I suppose I was assuming they would plan for fourteen.

Temple likely to Big East for all-sports in 2012, Boise won't join 'til 2013

That's interesting that Rutgers is the school lobbying for Temple. Rutgers has the most to loss if Temple enters the Big East outside of Villanova.

Ahh, so Temple can quickly step in to replace WVU on the local regional schedule hence why programs like Rutgers would be so adamant on their approval.

Hard to keep track of it all, but if Temple joins, I think it's...
2012 BE football (8): Syracuse, Pitt, UConn, Temple, Rutgers, Louisville, Cincinnati, USF
2013 BE football, assuming Syracuse and Pitt join the ACC in 2013 (12): UConn, Temple, Rutgers, Louisville, Cincinnati, USF, UCF, Memphis, SMU, Houston, Boise State, San Diego State
Navy's start date is set for fall 2015.

Well if the Big East wants to improve, then some give has to be done for making it a better conference. Thats been the problem in the past. To survive, and thrive they must bring in obvious. They have to quit all the in house fighting and unite.

Guess the next question would be, if Louisville goes, and they want 12 teams for 2013, who would be next? Air Force? UNLV?

Hopefully they get in next year for football. I'd much rather play Temple than many of the other options.

If UL leaves, the BE has its 12. If UL stays, the BE doesn't need a 14th school until the 2015 season, presumably football only, to come in with Navy.

I agree! I'm a bit surprised Slick Rick isn't talking up his alma mater, UMass.
The Big East would probably look for a football-only member in Air Force, or the darkhouse candidate UNLV.
Unless of course The Alliance has some protection from folks higher up the food chain than the Big East.
Ding, Ding, hope so.

Army is the logical choice. Perhaps they'll be more receptive.

Makes it interesting for UL leaving for 2013 because now that will cause the BE to not be able to host a conference championship game. Doubt Marinatto will be as friendly as our UL friends hope to them leaving.
