OT: Fan ejections
Recently, ACC basketball referee Karl Hess threw out at least three fans from a North Carolina State men's basketball game against Florida State. Was anyone watching the game when this happened? Sounds to me what they said is pretty calm compared to some of the things I've heard at basketball games before (ie "You suck!" and "It's about time!"). If Hess reffed an MT game (I believe we are quite vocal about disliking referees), he might have to throw out all 8,000 fans. Thoughts? Have many fans been ejected in your school's games in recent times?

RE: OT: Fan ejections
I've never been tossed from a basketball game but I was kicked out of the Troy vs. North Texas football game back in 07. That year I would sit directly behind the opposing team's bench and heckle the hell out of them. One of the NT players claimed I called him a racist slur.

The female TroyU cop bought it and tossed me and almost threw my friends out as well when they defended me. There was only like 5 minutes left in the game anyway...

RE: OT: Fan ejections
I almost got thrown out of the Sun Belt Basketball Tournament a few times. One time it was for saying a player sucks. I also got warned for using player names and numbers. Then one year a member from the Arkansas State Pep Band shouted "Jaguars are stupid". I yelled back "Indians are gay". That was probably the closest I came to being kicked out. Of course that was before they were the Red Wolves. That was at a women's game so it was a sparse crowd and everyone heard it.

As far as regular games at home I've ony seen one USA fan get ejected. Superfan was his name and he gave the refs hell. He was ejected a few times. Sometimes he'd sneak back to the court in a different location. After many years he was asked to move seats when he renewed his season tickets due to the possibility of an altercation ensuing and he declined and hasn't been back since. ;(

Did the stAte fan behind the UALR bench that Shields came over to the rail to accost get thrown out? I can't remember. I do remember thinking that fan wasn't treated fairly, and that Shields' first name must be Richard.

Didn't a fan get tossed out in Jonesboro for yelling something at Kermit ? A pilot ?

I think he may have passed away. RIP to him.

I think that was post-game posturing, and the stAte fan got banned from campus for a while because neither he nor the AD would back down. Silly situation.

Fan was mouthy. Kermit was mouthy. Yet AD cracks down on fan.

He ain't dead.

Why the hell didn't they eject Shields? He went over to the fans behind the bench.

Meanwhile, ASU Athletic Director Dean Lee says ASU will issue no further sanctions against Acebo. "Through our investigation we found no reason to impose any further sanction on the individual beyond his ejection, and we anticipate his return at the remaining home games," said Lee. "We highly commend our security personnel and staff for helping to diffuse the situation quickly, but we will also continue to review our security as it relates to the protection of participants and fans alike."

Shields went into the student section behind their bench at USA when he was an Assistant Coach at the end of a blowout by the Jaguars. Police restrained him and he was later reprimanded by Waters and rightfully so. The fan, who was a recent alumni, sitting in the student section ( great ushers ) was tossed from Mitchell Center and told he was never to sit in the section again. He remains a great supporter of the Jags....Shields remains a thin skinned, rabbit eared baby....Get over the fans getting on you Steve....

I was actually sitting right behind a drunk student-aged fan and he was picking fights with people, and about 10 cops got on him and arrested him. But that really wasn't an 'ejection'. Still gets on my nerves that some people just have no self-control.

Hasnt UALR booted a few opposing fans a few times? I thought I remember their was a big controversy when the Stephens Center opened about opposing fans buying tickets in places UALR didnt anticipate?

RE: OT: Fan ejections
We had a fan ejected once, who had climbed to the top of the arena, and dropped down a huge banner that read "Quit Your Bitchin', Bobby", back when Bob Huggins was coaching at Akron.

I know the cop who went and got the guy. He let him out the door of the arena and told him to re-enter at another location 04-cheers

Happened to me and a buddy at a women's game back in like 2005. We paid for seats underneath one of the baskets and were cheering loudly the entire game(and considering this was at the beginning of UALR's recent run of women's success, there might have been 400 people most of whom were older alumni sitting on their hands so we had little problem being louder than the whole of the UALR contingency) we were never rude, obscene, or anything of that nature and we weren't drunk. We had probably a half dozen or so ushers come check our tickets at one time or another and then at some point when we were yelling at the ref for some ticky tack call, UALR's AD came and removed us from our seats and told us to go sit in the upper level, supposedly at the request of the ref we were getting on to. It was major BS, especially considering at the ticket window on the way in we specifically asked if there was a visiting section and after being told that there wasn't we requested the seats under the basket.
