Walt on Sports of all Sorts
they did an hour show with Walt here's some points Walt made, he covered a lot of topics:

-wanted Cueto fresh so they shut him down this winter
-Rolen 100%
-Mesaraco's a man's man
-had Cozart in Arizona all winter
-signed Francis and others because of Arroyo
-thinks Marshal will help Bray thinks they have 2 of the best lefties in NL
-very high on Soto
-asked about Moneyball thinks the Reds are somewhere in between, says the Reds have a big analytical department
-theyve asked Stubbs to change his approach

That kid has probably been asked that at least a dozen times every year for the last 6 years or so. I'd be shocked if he actually managed to change his approach after all it did lead to him being one of the best prospects in baseball.

People don't realize that the ability make consistent contact is a lot more of a skill thing than it is an approach. I'm not saying Stubbs' approach can't improve because it can but he will always be a high strikeout player. Barry Larkin had the gift of having great bat control and was extremely difficult to strike out. Stubbs' ability at the plate is more like Adam Dunn than a Barry Larkin but people want him to be Larkin because of his elite speed.
