It is what it is. Urban grabbed some great recruits and is very likely to have some immediate success as Ohio State already has a good squad. What a patched together coaching staff couldn't do is lead that extremely talented squad. It takes a strong leader to make a strong group of players fill their roles.

Personally, I didn't see the big deal here. All kids are pretty much open game till they sign on the dotted line in early Feb.

After reading

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/wr...=hp_t11_a2

I really dont see the problem. Urban is just that type of personality. All it takes from him is that single call. Like he said in the article, he just calls and asks if they are interested. He doesn't sell them he just lets them take the hook.

Sounds to me like the rest of the coaches know he has that kind of ability and don't want him to be able to use it. It is a simple case of Growing Pains.

After seeing the recruits he was able to quickly get, it is very likely that such success is only going to grow in the coming years.

Ohio State is going to be extremely tough nationally.

No doubt. Getting a kid like Noah Spence was huge. He's the prototypical SEC DE and def adds the speed on the DL that they've been lacking.

Those type of guys have always existed up north but Urban and Ohio State are particularly threatening because they have the best chance of putting together a Northern all star team so to speak. The type of team that could definitely challenge for the National Championship.

As an Iowa fan I am all for that type of B1G coverage. We at Iowa are team players when it comes to the B1G. Besides, our coaches make more from less. The type of guys Urban is getting really aren't on our radar anyways.

I tend to think speed on the lines is the biggest difference between the SEC and the rest of the nation. I really haven't seen any prototypical SEC Linemen in the WPIAL(Pittsburgh HS Football). PA has to develop more Big Linemen with speed. WVU is known for their speed, but LSU was not only bigger but they was faster than WVU esp up front. If OSU is able to acquire more players like Noah Spence on each side of the ball, then man they'll be a terror for B1G 10 football.

Southern guys will go north for Urban. The Ohio State University is an amazing experience for these guys. I know its not their southern culture but if Ohio State takes that next step then guys will be willing to go north to be part of that because they are wanting to make it beyond college football into the pros. An Urban Meyer led Ohio State that becomes a perennial challenger for the National Title is a program that will definitely begin pulling recruits from across the country.

Absolutely. 3rd and 4th tier players already come north, and if I'm not mistaken Santonio Holmes was from Florida. Pitt made a living grabbing Florida kids under Walt Harris.

Bielema whines about pretty much everything. I know a lot of Wisconsin fans who don't really like him (myself included). Maybe Iowa will take him off our hands one of these days.

As long as Wisky doesn't try to pry Cryst away from Pitt, doesn't matter to me. 03-phew
