Troy has won the first and second round of the series but the third looks like a loss unless we have a miracle.

ASU looks headed for 0-2. Lamar is up 6-0 in the 6th inning. Our offense is virtually non-existant right now.

Lamar beats ASU 10-2.

ASU played this weekend without its best offensive player Michael Faulkner, who was suspended for 2 games for something my students get detention for. Failure to turn in homework assignments.

I am very proud and excited with respect to ULM's 2-1 start. Tuesday's game against Tulane will say a little something about where we are this early in the season...

Yuck...beating Santa Clara 5-2 heading into the bottom of the 8th...wheels fell off and we gave up 6. Oh well. Still got Texas State tomorrow at 1.

It had to wait an extra day, but Cajuns and Bobcats squared off in San Marcos.

[Image: texasstate.gif] came out on top 9-5.

Well seems like this weekend was a let down for Troy and FIU. Good job by FAU sweeping Alabama.

Hope we do better against USM next week hopefully the weather won't suck.

More Good Press for FAU...

This week's ESPN power rankings are out and with the Owls coming in at #15 after their weekend performance against Alabama:

15. Florida Atlantic (3-0)
Of note: The Owls never trailed in their three-game "upset" sweep at Alabama. Part of the reason was because leadoff hitter Mike Albaladejo went 9-for-15 and did not commit an error at his new position, going from catcher to second base.

Complete Rankings

Also of note, the Owls garnered College Baseball Insider's Team of The Week award:

ULM (2-1) leading Tulane (4-0) 8-3 thru seven innings this afternoon. Good crowd in Monroe.

Update: ULM now leading 9-3 going to the top of the ninth. Shelby Aulds has been nearly spotless in relief for the Warhawks.

Game over. ULM takes a 9-3 win over C-USA's Tulane to go to 3-1 while the Green Wave drops to 4-1. Joey Rapp had two HR's for the Warhawks, giving him three thus far for the season. Took just over two hours to play a nine-inning game.

ULM plays Southern Mississippi tomorrow night.

RE: Sun Belt Baseball Recaps
Over the weekend (3 games) Troy had 37 strike outs. The most of any school over the weekend. It was also the most per game over the weekend.

Tyler Ray extended his NCAA leading win streak to 13 games with his win Friday night.

Troy also set a new home opener record for themselves with 1648 fans... that is not counting 100-200 fans out in left field that didn't buy a ticket.

It was a very successful weekend for TROY (outside of the 2-1 record and the rain canceled game on saturday).

We were playing CMU (picked to win their division of the MAC) who looks like they could have themselves a very solid team this season. Very impressive on sunday!

We definitely would have had over 1000 for the whole weekend if it wasn't raining as hard as it was. I'm surprised that many people showed up on Saturday with the horrible rain.

But Troy needs a third day pitcher to step up and a closer to be behind Jimmy. I'm still so confused as to what happened on Friday after Tyler Ray sat down we threw a different pitcher every inning and two were our best relief pitchers.
