I think it is making people loco. I just got a 10% warning for posting. Let's just hope I don't have another opinion.

I got a 10% warning too, from UAB board, just before the banned me. UAB is very sensitive about the whole UA BoT thing, mention it and they all attack you.

To be honest though, I don't want us to join the MergAlliance crap. the Sun Belt has a perfect footprint and we are improving every year. Troy has been a big part of the improvement process and I am a proud member of this Conference. It's always better to build something and be proud of it than to join something you had no part in originally.

Not to mention the new Alliance Conference is ridiculously spread out. The best programs from both of those leagues have left, so the MergAlliance is basically the leftovers signing up together to form a monstrocity. I don't see it as a longterm success, whereas the Sun Belt's stablity ensures that we are here to stay.

I believe some members of that other conference were ticked off and kind of upset when they didn't get in the BE. Seem to find some sort of comfort in joining something extremely large for preservation sake. Reality will eventually set in. May lose a couple of members by breaking apart later.

Fraid soooo. Guesss we are convicts. Going to the big house soon.

By the way usajag, couldn't agree with you more. This conference is head and shoulders above the people involved in some of these other conferences. Hope some of your members think about that if they are asked to move.

RE: New Sun Belt
like I said before, I dont think this Alliance will work out in the long term. at the non-AQ level, being in a regional Conference is always going to be better than some monstrocity that stretches across the country, no matter what reason you have for doing so. the money just isn't there.

don't assume we are going to sit still and not improve. I expect us to continue our ascent while the Alliance tries it's little mistake of a merger.

That's homer talk. post that on any other board and see if anyone not in the SBC agrees. Sure you can get better. There were years where the WAC was better than the MWC but when it came time to take they took from us, not us from them.

The BE guys on the expansion board told me there was no way they get raided by the ACC and that they may poach the ACC. I said no, most told me I was dumb and didn't know anything. I took bets and provided the names of Syracuse, Pitt, UConn saying at least 2 of 3 would go to the ACC. Now they see that the ACC is higher up.

03-lmfao Come back in four more years.

Conference USA will find it much harder to pick off the Sun Belt teams if we keep recruiting the way everyone did this season. Heck if FIU pulls in more classes like it did they will more talented than some ACC teams and Big East teams.

Winning solves alot of problems. The Sunbelt teams get those ooc wins and the conference gains relavance. Especially if we win those games against the Mega Merger Teams.

Yeah, FIU had something like 19 to 21 3's ....I pretty much lost count. Of course they will probably go downhill in offense a little now since we got our OC Satterfield back. With all that talent they should still improve though.

If the Sun Belt did add La Tech (personally think they'll wind up in the Alliance) UTSA and Tex St the conference moves decidedly West. Not good for WKU and MTSU. With ASU in the picture the Mountaineers would become the third closest conf school to WKU and in a virtual dead heat for third with MTSU. Hard to believe but ASU becomes the third closest school to FIU & FAU.

That's not exactly how it went down, but spin that narrative if it makes you feel better.

I have $100 that says Tech won't be in the alliance [at least not this time through.]

RE: New Sun Belt
I too don't think the alliance will last very long. 4 years max. The main reason this all started was to get AQ status, and I highly doubt that has any chance at all. They are also hoping to get a bigger contract, but with the amount of teams, I doubt once divided up will be any better. Then you got an increase in travel expenses, plus they lost some of their top members.

If we stick together and make the Belt stronger, in a couple years we might be able to cherry pick who we want to expand with. If we fill up on FCS teams, then we wont have room to get a USM, Tulsa, or whoever.
