LOL what a bunch of self centered little pukes

Quote:Simply because body modification does NOT change who you are. In which, will not change the persons ability to perform the job efficiently. It's just as bad as not hiring someone because they are too fat, gay, male/female, and other discriminating reasons. Don't judge purely on looks.

Having those stupid holes in your ears and a tattoos all over your face will change how *others* interact with you. Thats important to a business!

That and anyone who needs to 'express themselves' through body modification has a few loose screws to begin with.

Ridiculous. Body modification is a choice. Gender, race, etc. are not. If you don't want it to affect your job prospects, either don't do it, or be prepared to only work at places that won't mind.

Not sure that anyone is hired/fired based upon their tattoos. They're hired/fired on their ability to do their job. If they can't be successful with clients because of their appearance, then they're fired because they aren't successful.

There are positions where your appearance doesn't matter, or there are positions where having these "body modifications" are desirable.

This is a pointless petition. If I choose to not shower, and only wear a tuxedo t-shirt with gym shorts 24/7, should I be protected from "discrimination"?

It sounds to me like these people are regretting their face tattoos...

RE: Petition to Include Body Modification in Equal Opportunity Employment
Sounds to me like the tolerant crowd is about to demand another mandate from government on what businesses can do and what kinds of decisions can be made. I don't think that this one will succeed.

For the petitioners, it seems that they believe that the issue is all about THEMselves. They could care less about how their appearance might give the impression that the business they want to work for is not a very professional workplace. Despite their beliefs and even if they are a good employee, some customers/clients may react negatively to their body mods. Human nature and all.

Somewhere in their education the lesson of consequences for their decisions/actions was missed. All we will hear is how "unfair" it is.

RE: Petition to Include Body Modification in Equal Opportunity Employment
I applaud anyone that chooses to be a non conformist and modify their body in any fashion they wish. I also applaud any employer that chooses not to hire them. Both are freedoms that should be praised. I would not even have a problem with a company that ONLY employed non conformist body modifiers as its business model. Let the marketplace decide this..not the courts.
