Quote:The conference realignment affects other West Virginia sports. The Mountaineers must find a home for their men's soccer team because the Big 12 doesn't sponsor the sport.

Wouldn't the MAC be a perfect spot? Geographic fit, not many teams now, why not? Where else would they go? I don't follow soccer at all so I'm curious as to what the six people who do think?

Sounds like a plan. The MAC used to house KY IIRC. And the conference has a recent National Champ.

RE: Let's talk MAC soccer!
The MAC is far and away the best fit for WVU's soccer program. Hopefully the MAC office has contacted them.

It's good for both sides. While the MAC may be a step down from the Big East in terms of league strength, we are the best conference in their region that has an opening for new members. And the MAC is hurting for membership in the sport and would get a team that occasionally gets into the top 25.

How good is WVU?

Are they good enough to be competitive in the MAC?

No need to invite bottom dwelling programs just to give them a nice, warm comforting conference affiliation.

(That's only 1/2 snark)

Perhaps this thread should be moved to the soccer realignment board?

Toledo signed a nice class including a couple local women. We lose a lot but should be good again, in spite of the losses.

West Virginia mens soccer has consistently been in the Top 25. Don't know much about the women's side.
