If this would be better off on the trash talk board, then I apoligize, but I hate for you to be asking several apparently rhetorical questions about the Big East/ACC without us Big East fans getting a chance to respond. So here's your response...

Quote:The ACC has done better in bowls and Sagarin than the Big East for ... good lord ... .. at LEAST a decade from the quick research I could do.
Might want to research a little more, the total records for the past 4 years have the Big East with the highest winning percentage in bowls among BCS conferences (ACC in 2nd).

Quote:The facts do NOT side with Boeheim in the least. Period. Any REASONABLE fan would agree his statement is a laugher. Not putting the BE down... just the facts, ma'am.
What facts? You picked out three random tidbits, one of which was false, and one of which was just plain strange (what the heck does a non-bowl conference team winning in Blacksburg mean? How about why didn't one of your bowl eligible teams beat Tech at Tech?) and not really an indicator of conference strength.

Argue until you are blue in the face, find as many obscure and bizarre facts to back up your claims as you wish, what Boeheim said was true. You let a Virginia Tech team that has been nothing but mediocre for the past three years in the Big East step right in and win your conference.

Exactly. Virginia Tech upset West Virginia this year, congratulations it took them 3 years to do it. Heck, you could make a serious case that WVU self-destructed in that game more then VT one that game. They had finished 4th in the Big East the last few years. Miami is the only team to finish ahead of them that is no longer in the conference. The Big East has better statistics then the ACC the last ten years. You have to have quicker research then that. Bottomline, ACC fans have wanted the Big East to die just to justify the raiding and it didn't work. Boeheim was right. A middle-of-the-pack ACC team beating a middle-of-the-pack Syracuse team doesn't change anything. And no, Syracuse winning a piece of the Big East title doesn't mean anything. The ACC and Pac-10 has had teams equally as bad win their conference title. The bottomline though is that the ACC finished with 5 Top 25 teams, the Big East with 3. in the human polls. The ACC and Big East highest rated teams finished in the Top 10 near each other (Virginia Tech 8th, Louisville 10th), revenue generator, the ACC by only a few million, and the basketball is basically a wash, I don't care what the polls say this year. The Big East champion has a higher average ranking over the last few years then the ACC. So what has the ACC done to make you and others claim they are so vastly superior? The ACC and their fans want so badly to be the SEC, but instead they just improved a little bit. And, after all of the raiding, all the talk from ACC fans about how bad the Big East was, this and that, it remains the same. The ACC is, statistically, the 4th best football conference, the Big East 6th. Revenue wise the ACC is 4th, the Big East is 6th. Basketball wise the Big East got better the ACC got worse as far as additions. Nothing has really changed, and that is fine by me as a new incoming member of the Big East. Especially since the Big East has given themselves room to grow by replacing Boston College and Temple with South Florida and Cincinnati.

I did not lock the thread... though I probably would have soon since there was little hope of the original topic (Boeheim) being discussed.
