MAC west fans are so quick to defend their piss poor basketball programs... especially one's with programs that were point shaving.

Wow, three posts in and you are already telling half the board members their team is piss-poor (or worse). Nice way to introduce yourself.

I never said their team's were "piss poor"...i said their programs...which most of them do not fund very well and have lost some quality because of it. And i've been around here for a while, I just don't post often.

As far as "half" of the board members...I highly doubt half of the people on here support the MAC West. If that was the case and the MAC west had so many fans, they would actually have fans at some of their games. I'm not saying the MAC east is high and mighty, i'm just pointing out that the MAC west has nowhere near the fan support in men's basketball...it's not even close.

I bet they do. On this board, the 2 busiest forums by far are the NIU and Toledo boards, both MAC West schools. And Akron sucks at football - if it wasn't for Akron, the MAC would have had a higher Sagarin rating than CUSA, even with the bad Memphis team removed.

You were probably smarter to not post often.

Don't worry, Akron will be back to beating you guys in the MAC championship in no time.

Akron beating NIU ...
I highly doubt it, ...
It's going to take awhile for Bowden to get that program competitive... But I guess you now have the influence of the sweater vest...
So, all is well in Zip land...

Without even playing probably the 2 best teams, NIU and Toledo.

Oh I see, so the only team they play inspired against is the brave men and women of Virginia Military? Traitors.

After all the talk about the strength of the East it appears they'll be lucky to go .500 this week. And it looks like the West's record will improve to around .500 this week as well. And they say the West is weak.

Nicely done tonight, Rockets! How long before people are talking that UT is the team to beat in the West?

What has happened to BSU?

I am very appreciative for what the basketball team has been able to do lately but considering that they are such a thin and young team (young meaning this is their first year playing together), they are far from the team to beat in the West. Having said that, they have exceeded my expectations greatly for year 2 w/ Coach K at the helm. (The Rockets are like the Bulls under Thibs year 1...Thibs year 2 is where it's at.) And I say that as a person who thought he was a great hire and would be able to quickly build the program back up. He is still up against a lot as a result of the previous staff and some players but I feel even more confident in him than I was originally, which actually says a lot. Once he gets his full amount of scholarships, I think we'll be seeing fewer East vs West dominance threads...and hopefully even sooner.

Actually that will make it more like the football threads where people are like "the West is better and X and Y teams are a fluke or are not enough to change my mind on division quality". That is still better than right now of course. Still props to the Toledo team as I thought they would be decent this year (and I even said as much on the Toledo board).

I can't wait for this basketball season to be over. I felt like the Cubs in May - maybe next year.
