Kent could have and should have won in Buffalo. Buffalo could have and should have won at Kent. Some of you guys that post are this board or kinda sad. The home team gets the calls. I had to laugh when I read about you guys getting robbed. I doubt anyone on this board would ddare say your team has any flaws. Just my opinion after reading some of your threads.

RE: Kent State vs. Univeristy at Buffalo
I paid a heavy price for going to a game on Valentines Day but it was worth it. Except for the last 3 minutes of the 1st half and a Buffalo 11-0 run about the middle of the 2nd half we played well. Battled them to a draw on the boards and shot something like 11-18 from the 3 pt line. Porrini hit two in a row after Buffalo's 11-0 run to get us going again. Guyton hit one late that had to be from 10 feet beyong the arc. I did see 2 concerns however:
1. We were back playing the East and a Buffalo guard (Pilsen I think) went crazy scoring 17 in the first half. He did whatever he wanted and reminded me of what Akron and Ohio guards did to us. Luckily Porinni shut him down in the 2nd half (scoring only 3 points in th 2nd half). The perimeter defense is still a weakness. It did not kill us tonight but the weakness is still there.
2. We have to stop lobbing. Tonight Evans threw a lob to Patrick Jackson at the end of a fast break. It was pathetic (actually humerous)and we had a couple other ill-advised lobs. This team needs to pull up and run the offense when the fast break is not there. They have to stop forcing it. It almost cost us this game.
Our position in the standings improved as EMU lost. It now looks like only Buffalo, Kent, Akron and whoever wins the BG/Ohio game tomorrow will still have a good chance for the 1-4 seeds. EMU, Miami and the BG/Ohio loser will be on life support. Next up the last road trip to BG and Miami. I know the Bracketbuster is next and it would be nice to win but it's not critical.

We are finally beginning to look like a team. We are not a good passing team as I have said all year, but we are getting better each game. This was a real gut check game and we met the challenge.

You can say whatever you want. That game in Alumni arena was a hideous display of officiating and I can assure you led to the experienced crew being assigned to tonights game. Come by and celebrate on our board anytime.

RE: Kent State vs. Univeristy at Buffalo
I was only able to listen to the last 5 minutes tonight, although I was checking the score throughout. I personally know of several people who gave up on this team after the first swing through the MAC East. This team has a lot of moments where we aren't very easy on the eyes, but we are tougher than most in the MAC. A few times this year we have gotten buried (Utah St, OU, Akron) but in general we win the close games and that's a display of toughness. It's funny to think where we could be and what the opinions of people would be. We lost to UT-A on a last second shot and lost a game we should have won at Buffalo. We should be 21-4. We could have an unexpected stumble somewhere along the line, but we will be favored in every game the rest of the season and I believe the Akron game will be for a piece of the MAC regular season title.

RE: Kent State vs. Univeristy at Buffalo
Great win tonight, it was a pretty fun game to watch too. Despite the poor clock management at the end of the first half and a cold spot mid way through the 2nd we played a pretty complete game. Porrini really put this team on his back in the 2nd half tonight, off the top of my head I'd say it's the best I've seen him play this year. That stolen inbounds pass followed by an and-one 3 pointer by Gaines was huge too. I'm excited to see what he can do with more minutes in the next two years. I'm really feeling good about where this team is at right now, we've got our flaws but we do a lot of things really well.
Oh, and people, don't feed the trolls lol.

RE: Kent State vs. Univeristy at Buffalo
dannyb73, I am one who gave up on this team, not because they lost at Buffalo, Ohio and Akron (I expected that they'd lose probably two of the three), but because of the way they lost those last two. I also gave up because I just didn't see them playing very well or very consistently all season, through that Akron game. Add to that, I had no idea, given that he is a first year coach, whether Senderoff could rally his troops and regroup the way past coaches had during rough patches. Well, I admit that I was wrong. They have done much better than I expected (so far!).

While I like Reggie Weatherspoon, his constant whining is getting old.
Anyone else feel the same?

RE: Kent State vs. Univeristy at Buffalo
That was one of the most exciting games I have attended at the MAC Center in some time. There is no doubt that Kent State shooting 11-18 from the beyond the arc played a huge roll in that victory. But thats life at home and I'll take it. One thing stood out to me during this game of runs:
They way Kent State pushed the tempo had Buffalo gassed at times. Early in the game it was evident. I believe it was before the under 12 timeout in the first half. Kent State was playing well and playing fast and 4 of the 5 guys on the floor for Buffalo had their hands on their hips and seemed to be in quicksand. I realize that KSU (or anybody) can play at a torrid pace for 20 minutes at time but that was a clear advantage.
It also seems to me that Kent State has gotten much better at recognizing when a fast break isn't there and pulling the ball back out and getting set. The next conference game is against Miami, a team that may not be able to handle extended stretches of uptempo hoops.
