Onion, help me a little.

While I have great respect for ASU's football program and their facilities, I'm still trying to wrap myself around the travel issue.

Can you answer these questions for me:

1. Most football teams charter planes. If you're playing at ASU, where is the closest runway that can accomodate a large plane?

2. Many other teams travel commercial in other sports. My question is, which airport is the closest that can accomodate commuter jets?

3. Since baseball can travel up to 35 people, commuter jets aren't always feasible. What is the nearest airport where large commercial airliners can land?

I appreciate in advance your response. And, welcome to the board.

Our football team's charter flights travel out of Tri-Cities Airport, Johnson City Tennessee, about 1 hr 30 min outside Boone.

There are two commercial airports that we use, Charlotte, is where most fans fly in and out of, and Piedmont-Triad, out of the Winston Salem/Greensboro area. Both 1 hr and a half from Boone. I'd use the Piedmont Triad, it is right off of I40, and runs 4 lanes all the way to Boone. Both are International Airports, Tri-Cities in Johnson City is regional.

Thanks for the welcome!
