I suspect the Ticket City Bowl is going to be next with the Big East now having both SMU and Houston.

St. Pete is in trouble with no Florida presence from CUSA. Armed Forces may be out of business because of the 7-5 rule.

Still look at the recent history

2006 - South Carolina/Houston
2007 - Mississippi State/UCF
2008 - Kentucky/East Carolina
2009 - Arkansas/East Carolina
2010 - UCF/Georgia

Yeah we weren't in it this past year. Now that Memphis is Big East that's really no shock.

That it happened is no surprise... That people are pretending this, and the other two bowls they could lose, are no big deal *is*

I didn't say that they never played in it since the SEC signed on - but that the bowl started moving away from C-USA when the SEC signed on.

http://blogs.commercialappeal.com/the_me...-game.html

"It's no secret that SEC commissioner Mike Slive hasn't been a fan of the Liberty Bowl's deal that has the SEC playing the champion of a non-BCS league. In the most recent Liberty Bowl game, a clause in the bowl's contract allowed it to match Big East co-champion Cincinnati vs. Vanderbilt."

Does that make you happy now?

7 - 5 rule?

Isn't that being DISCUSSED or rumored or something less than reality?

What happened to this quote?

"There is no objective measure by which the Owls would not have been a better choice."

I would be shocked if this bowl move wasn't part of the offer to Memphis.

You know, you're right. That is an excellent point and might have tipped the balance.

Very heavily discussed...

But with more teams coming up to FBS I don't think it will be a huge issue.

Lots of bowls are going to be playing musical chairs in the next year or two. Then we will see what happens for 2014 if they implement the 7win rule.

RE: First Bowl casuality
Kind of a shame what happened to the Liberty Bowl..used to be a very nice, relevant match-up of MWC vs C-USA champs. Then it got dliluted by the SEC (what #8, #9 pick..sheesh). The C-USA boards are full of delusional folks who like to make fun of the BE and Memphis (football esp). Ironic in that Memphis' hoops program got them the invite to the BE, but in the process it was a dagger to the heart for C-USA as they lost their highest profile bowl game in the process.

You C-USA posters that come on here probably think all MAC fans hate C-USA....actually, most of us root hard for non AQ schools when they play the BCS conference boys...it's just that your posters make it so hard to feel friendly when the posts are always tainted with how superior they think C-USA is vs other non AQ conferences. The endless posts of "who do we invite now" with the implication that if invited, well of course everyone would say yes. And then the endless slams of schools like La Tech, and when their posters come on your board to defend themselves, they get slammed again.
