It happens when you rely entirely on inconsistent guards

Maybe Mick was setting Marquette up, feeling they were going to win at home anyway, and he'd have a return game at The Shoe against them. Hmmmm. That Mick is sneaky. 03-nerner

Didn't expect them to get blow out. However, Cronin did his best to
demonstrate Einstein's definition of insanity. (doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results).

When one of the MU players hit consecutive 3's, which player seldom takes/hits threes, it was starkly apparent on my couch that the bunching the middle defense was not working.
Cronin was slow to adjust.

RE: Marquette Game Thread
Didn't expect us and our experienced guards to toss the ball away like a hit potato. Didn't expect to give up 95 pts. Didn't expect to guard so poorly, to play an extended period of totally ineffective zone. Marquette is a good team that plays very good at home. But all these folks suggesting that since we were likely to lose this game, the way we lost is somehow irrelevant really need to expect more from a team that has as much experience and road experience at that and has a team of players that made the tourney last year.

In short I'm not satisfied at all with the way this team played today. A hard fought close loss would've been easy to take. Giving up 95 pts and being down nearly 20 for much of it late shouldnt be "okay" for a team with this kind of experience and which has played well and been In hard road games before. It's the inconsistency of it all that is most frustrating to watch.

That's what I'm mad about right there....its not that we lost, I expected that. And no shame either, Marquette at the Bradly Center this year is a TOUGH game for anybody.

No, Im mad because:

a: We got bombed
b: we gave up 90+ pts

Those two things right there are what have me concerned. Had we lost say, 70-64 or something like that then I would have been ok.

If there's a silver lining, I don't know. But maybe getting smashed so bad against Marquette will have the guys embarassed and ready to play hard against such headliners as: Providence, Seton Hall, Villanova, and USF. Which are games they absolutely have to win, and might otherwise have a hard time getting up for.
