While the show runners willingness to kill of main characters keeps the show fresh and separates it enough from the comic to prevent complete predictability a lot of fan favorites have bit the dust over the las two seasons. The zombie genre might be getting old, but fan loyalty also depends on returning characters people like, right now the only one that fits that bill is Daryl.
Is he the only original group member left?
He and Carol, but she hasn't really been a regular like Carl, Rick, etc.

Would love to see Negan introduce Michonne to the business end of Lucille.

This season has been better than I thought. I like the whisperers. Didn't think Id stick around after Rick left, but Im still watching for some reason. Though I think Judith is twice as annoying as Carl ever was.

Michonne is getting on my last nerve with her "screw the other settlements" attitude. I guess there's a side story yet to be told that involves the scars on her back, Daryl's and a few others, I might have a different view if that were revealed.

That's been my hunch about her change of attitude. She's been upstanding and straight-forward from the outset, so it would seem there would have to be a reason for the change we're seeing. Although it could also just be her having a hard time dealing with Rick's departure and the added responsibilities she now has in his absence.

Per the shocking development, Gurira will return as the katana-wielding Michonne for Season 10 in just a few episodes that will be dispersed throughout the season. After that, her character will leave the post-apocalyptic series forever. Still, there's now a decent chance of her showing up in a TWD movie trilogy with Lincoln.

She may replace Ezekiel as one of Alpha's victim's who's head ends up on a pike. It doesn't speak well for the series when main characters are choosing to leave.

Happens all the time. Big Bang Theory is ending because Jim Parsons is tired of it.
After a few years, actors often want to take their careers in new directions. Rats leaving a sinking ship ship is not the only reason to leave.

10 years is a long time to do one show for an actor. She's also gained fame from it and has led to new opportunities. I would also imagine it's hard being one of the old timers and most of your friends that you worked with for years are gone.
To be honest I can't believe Reedus hasn't quit yet. They must be paying him a lot (plus they are paying him to ride a motorcycle around the world as an enticement).

So they kill Carl and have Henry start to take his arcs from the comic only to kill Henry. Maggie is leaving the show but they haven't actually done anything with her on the show, replace her arc with Tara and then kill her too. Meanwhile Ezekiel and Rosita were two of the main victims of the spikes in the comics were both spared.

As if they show hadn't got far enough from the comic the show runner says expect a surprise in the season finale and a "left turn", also there will be lots of loose ends no clean wrap up as last year. Either this pulls fans back or kills the series definitely a big gamble.

RE: OT: The Walking Dead [Warning: Spoilers]
I officially gave up on TWD and removed it from my DVR schedule a couple weeks ago after watching every episode from the start. I've lost interest in the show with the cast changes and the story line and watching it the last couple seasons seemed to be more of a job than something I enjoyed. I have no regrets, however I may watch the Rick focused trilogy movies.

WHY? Original ratings are sinking spinoff never hit the ratings of the first, this is getting as bad as CBS with all the CSI series.

Ok, so someone tell me where I missed this.
I watch TWD on DVR typically. When i watched episode 15 it ended with darryl, carol and crew surrounded by Beta and the whisperers.
When i watched episode 16 on DVR, it begins with a depressing mood and insinuates that Tara, Henry, and crew ended up with their heads on spikes.
Did i miss this actually happening?
