Should the MAC offer Marshall and ECU, the two most geographically isolated teams in whats left of CUSA?

As an AAU member, UB should be disgusted with the idea of inviting marshall "university" to the MAC.

If UB wanted to wait for a conference which was AAU compliant we would still be FCS waiting on the Big10...

There are some schools in the MAC that are just not top tier national profile universities.

Yes, but marshall with probably Boise State (which literally was a JC not that long ago) are the bottom of the barrel in the FBS educationally speaking.

While not AAU, top tier, most of the MAC schools share a similar academic profile that includes being a large state university with solid academics and with a Carnegie classification of RU/H: Research Universities (high research activity).

Only two schools aren't at least "high research activity" and one of those is still classified as a "Research University." And only two have an enrollment of less than 20K students. marshall is under 15K. They are actually more similar in academic profile to a Sun Belt school.

Should have known there was no chance for a rational conversation on the MAC board. Glad we left that trash. Have fun in obscurity on Tuesday nights in front of 8 fans.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW! Really? We draw as many fans as 2 or 3 of your football school's attendance. I needed a good laugh, this has been a rough week.

I was trying to be nice.

BTW, we all know about your attendance and are suitably impressed. Don't rub it in.

....and you draw double of most of C-USA as well and two of your better drawing teams (UCF & Houston) are leaving. At what point is it really relevant by how much you dwarf the attendnce of your conference mates?

In short, ECU deserves better...

Torch, your a 1st class douche bag who is probably nothin but a punk in real life.

The rest of you guys seem pretty cool and have pretty realistic views of everything. I personally have nothing against the MAC.

RE: Time to Bury the Hatchet?
ECU's problem is that it doesn't matter to any of the power conferences how many fans they have. They could draw 70,000 a game, and it still wouldn't make them more attractive. They are locked in an isolated place in NC and have no media market that is attractive to the BE or the ACC. That's the end of their story.

Their only possible hope--and even it is very remote--is to become not only a perennial top 25 team in football which they have not been able to do, AND become a top 50-60 RPI hoops program who makes some noise (wins NCAA games every year or two) to get the kind of juice they would need. Can't see the ACC ever wanting them in as they are NC saturated, and the BE has been pretty clear in rejecting their applications to join.

ACC is also very snooty about academics, and looks down at ECU in that regard.
