Hawkins has done less with more talent than any coach I can think of in the MAC in a long, long time.

And Trey Ziegler needed to get some good coaching to play well at the college level, and he isn't getting it. So far, a waste of raw talent. He does some things on the floor that just wouldn't be tolerated on a good team.

Ziegler likely won't in another month. Trey would leave if Ernie is fired, but that kid isn't getting any better under his fathers tutelage. We will see if they want another 2 years of stalled momentum or if they want to try to find the right guy.

My thoughts for a long, long time.

I’ve been critical of Carlton Guyton for his bad decisions and underperformance. Glad he’s stepped up a bit over the past two games. We will need him down the stretch- hope he keeps it up.

Hawkins is the most overrated coach in MAC. WMU is usually picked to win the West every year and he continues to find ways to blow it.

Not in a position to agree or disagree with you. The rumblings on our own board speak for themselves.

However, your statement isn't completely correct. Just last year WMU was picked to finish 4th in the West, behind Ball St., CMU and EMU. They finished 1st and played very well all year. The year before (Kool's senior year), they were picked to finish 5th in the West. They ended the year with a either a tie for first, or a second place finish. They lost in the semi's against Akron by 2.

One could actually say that Hawkins overacheived significantly during the previous 2 seasons. His Broncos have definately underacheived this year. 3 OT losses in conference and a host of injuries have contributed to a kick in the crotch this year. And yes, he deserves some blame for our late game collapses.

Why are you not in a position to offer your opinion on that statement? Preseason predictions don't mean squat. They are usually wrong and teams and players always get more credit than they deserve or get overlooked. It's simply a case of "what have you done for me lately?" Hawkins should have a team/program that dominates the lowly MAC West and he doesn't. With how bad the West has been, (for a long damn time) I would want heads to roll if I were at WMU (CMU too).

RE: Kent State @ EMU/vs. Ball State - BIG WEEK
Saturday's games are very interesting from a Kent State perspective. As usual, without a KSU victory none of this matters much but here is a look at three biggies.

Toledo is at Bowling Green at 2:00PM. This is a rivalry game and the Rockets must be feeling a shot of confidence after taking down Ohio University. Toledo isn't a player for a bye, Bowling Green is. Wouldn't it be nice if the Rockets could take down the Falcons?

At 4:30 Ohio is at Eastern Michigan. Eastern Michigan at 5-5 lead the West. A couple more losses and they are another team that will be playing in the pre-Cleveland round. The thing is, I am confident that CMU, WMU, BSU, UT and the rest of the West will drop a few losses on one another once things get going. On other hand, dealing OU its second straight and dropping them a game back of the Flashes would be spectacular.

WMU is at Buffalo in the 6:00PM STO slot. For some reason I still think WMU is capable of beating a team from the MAC East. I may be delusional but a guy can dream.

Assuming Kent State wins, which I think they will 74-59 behind 21 from JGreene, if one of the three West teams I mentioned above can win it would be a good day.

I used that statement because I wanted to make clear that I wasn't about to get in spat defending our coach on an opponents board. Just pointing out that perception wasn't necessarily reality.

And we have dominated the West with Hawkins. We've finished first or second every year since '03-04 with him. The problem is the West is practically a jayvee league compared to the East in the last decade. Winning the West used to give us a significant advantage with a 2 seed in Cleveland, not so much anymore. Our problems aside, you are still talking about a squad that went 4-2 against the east last year, losing to you guys on a last second shot and at Akron. We've lost 2 OT games this year to you and Akron, lost by 6 at Ohio, beat Miami, and got totally smoked by BG at home. In short, it's not like the East is manhandling is. Better teams? Yes. With that said, just being competitive with the East and winning the West is in fact getting old.

Just check out their body language. I know a 5 game losing streak is a fritch but man they don't have much in the tank at all. I wrote this on Carducci's in game blog but obviously something held Kent State together through a tough month. Anyway, the best part of this game is the rebounding. Evans, Jackson, Greene and Porrini all getting involved on the glass.

I am sure both will win, but BG down 7 at half at home to Toledo. OU HAS NOT SCORED IN THE 1ST NINE MINUTES OF THE GAME AT EMU. 7-0 EAGLES.

I am watching the EMU game on-line and sent a little good luck email their way...you too eh Ty? I had to laugh when they read yours right after mine.

I thought today was the best that Justin Greene has looked all year. That is an offensive game film I would show these guys a few times tomorrow and monday.

Of all the lineup comibinations that Kent uses I like any combo that includes Greene, Evans, Holt and Porrini. Also, danny, don't be so sure about BG and Ohio. BG ain't that much better than Toledo IMO and Ohio struggles big time on the road.

This is the ugliest game I have tried to watch in years. 9-4 EMU with 8 min to go first half.

Wow. OU fans must be looking for the nearest bridge right about now. 27-17 EMU at half.
