RE: Remember This
I remember it. It was my kids first game.
I also got swatted by my 70 some year
old mother in front of everyone when I
informed her that her grandchild on the field
was not the starting tailback....
It was funny for those who witnessed the
swat....but I warned them they could be next
if they were not careful....My mother is a
equal opportunity swatter...

03-idea Maybe schedule more "top teams" AT Huskie Stadium.

Catch 22.

The "top teams" don't want to have what happened to Maryland happen to them.

Also, I'm not sure on the timeline, but I don't think Maryland was a "top team" at the time the contract was made.

By "top team" I merely meant "AQ" team. Someone with "national recognition" if not "national acclaim."

Shawn Merriman was on that team along with several other future NFlers. They were the best looking team i've seen in some time.

But when was the deal made with Maryland? I suspect they were pretty pedestrian at the time, and it just worked out that they had a really good team when the game came around, Friedgen was at his peak, etc.

I thought HnP was talking about ranked AQ teams, or AQ teams of some profile. When you're scheduling years ahead, that's tough to foresee when you're talking about AQ teams willing to come to town.

Maryland had a LB that started against us who definitely makes the "ALL-NAME" team:

LEROY AMBUSH!

MD was my greatest moment as a fan in Huskie stadium. Did anyone notice Sam Hurd pin a db on Turners's TD? Did not realize how great a catch that was by PJ, like a fine wine it gets better with time... Sweet memories..

Vernon Davis was a freshman.. D'Qwell Jackson, starting LB for Browns. Future duo in special teamers with Nick Novak and Adam Podlesh. Dominique Foxworth and Madieu Williams were in their defensive backfield and they had some other linebackers and lineman that made it into the NFL, but no other noticeable names that pop up.
