So, that would be unofficial now? Gotcha...we'll go with that...Oh! I forgot to tell you that they have raised the admission standards as a part of the strategic plan...not much of a difference from the rest of the league, but when it comes to athletics, the clearinghouse rules the roost.
It was official...until they went back and made it unofficial. But that's an argument in semantics. Like saying Troy State has the same admissions standards as the rest of the SBC. You could argue semantics and say they have the same admissions standards as Jack In The Box, as long as you can function normally, spell your name some what correctly, and have a valid social security number...you're in!!!

It's not semantics...you were UL for a fleeting moment, as you've stated, but now you're not. Claim it for sports, who cares. At the end of the day, you are still the University of Louisiana At Lafayette...Officially. So far as admissions standards go, there may be one or two schools that have higher standards, but I bet they won't be turning down a whole lot of student athletes, if they've been cleared...betcha that. 03-lmfao

Still UL. Full names aren't important...I had a friend of mine who went to The University of Texas at Austin. Now I know for you Troy State folks the whole critical thinking thing is a bit of a struggle but one of these days the whole UL thing will be cleared up. Most sites are already calling us Louisiana. San Diego State did the same in New Orleans. Apparently Troy State are what the laymen term...late adopters. I just put it towards them being on the left side of the bell curve. By the way, remind me again what bowl game Troy State played last year? I seem to have forgotten already. Time flies I guess.

Unlike Troy State the rest of the SBC doesn't have 50 recruits in one academic year to weed out knuckle draggers like Troy State does. I guess we just aren't doing it right. Apparently the way to a quality program is to oversign like a madman, and hope you picked enough quality guys who know their ABC's to field a football team. I guess things are just different in Alabama. For instance, I do not think heading to Waflle House is eating at a fine establishment. When in Rome I guess. Do me a favor, next time you see Corey Robinson, let him know he still has yet to come and collect his self worth...which apparently was beaten out of him at Cajun Field. You stay classy mouth breathers.

I had no idea that a name could be such a bone of contention...03-lmfao Let us all know when that day comes that you "officially" change your name back...Glad you guys had a decent enough season...lawd knows it's about time. More than the ull team bested TROY, so we feel bad about the sum, not the parts of it. So, you mean to tell me there aren't any Waffle House in Lafayette? :muttering:

Where is Troy State at?

But seriously dude I have no clue why you are so butt hurt towards Troy. The truth is that no school will turn down good players if they are cleared to play unless your talking about schools like Cal Berkley and Yale. If your so interested in our class then do some research not everyone was an actual recruit like say Johnson he just didn't enroll last season after he transfered and is coming back.

But about this name nonsense unless it's official it's not official because on your basis UAB could call itself the University of Alabama. Auburn and UA could not combat Troy being Troy University because first of all we are our own school system. Second it's official.

Wow.

1) Wrong in the argument. Troy is no longer Troy State, Louisiana is still officially ULL. No semantics involved whatsoever.

2) When called out for being wrong in the argument you...

a) Change the subject to the fact that you guys had a better season last year(loser tactic)

b) Question the intelligence of this guy and everyone else that went to Troy.(douchey)

If you wanna be lousy at arguing, that's your business, but calling an entire fanbase "left of the bell curve" and "mouthbreathers" is not something that will fly on this site.

You aren't getting anything but held accountable for forum rules. You called an entire fanbase idiots, which is made more ridiculous by the fact it was in an argument you were on the wrong side of.

I don't get too wrapped up in name smack, I think it's dumb, but facts are facts and to call them Troy State is inaccurate, to call you Louisiana Lafayette, although taken as insult by most Cajun fans, is accurate.

Here's a little SAT analogy for you.

Troy State is to Troy as University of Southwestern Louisiana is to Louisiana Lafayette.

How am I being biased?

I call you guys Louisiana all the time, but facts are facts and Troy State is no longer their official name, just like Southwestern is no longer yours, but Louisiana Lafayette is. I don't use it unless specifically talking about the University itself, but that's neither here nor there. The argument was over official names and you were using one that has been officially and legally out of use for over twenty years and again calling an entire fanbase idiots in the process. Anyone doing the same to Cajun fans would get the same treatment.
