Plus, now they don't have to schedule murderer's row OOC with the Big East conference schedule. 7 current top 60 teams on their OOC schedule.
Especially since RC Cola Lite allowed Calipari to walk away with all the recruits save one recruited on Memphis' dime by allowing the recruits to sign LOI's with outs allowing them to leave....

And so far you've shown nothing to prove that statement.
Memphis is better than Army in football, basketball, women's basketball, and baseball.
Memphis has a better television market and national brand.
Memphis has strong ties to the Liberty Bowl.
Memphis has rivalries with eight (current and future) Big East members.
You might be able to make a case of Memphis vs. Temple, but not Army. Memphis is a far better candidate.
Army has a better national brand than Memphis. Army is in West Point, NY part of the NY Metropolitan area so they have the better television market. I'm tired of hearing the Liberty Bowl argument, last season proves how much the Liberty Bowl cares about Memphis when it took a Big East and an SEC team. That being said Memphis has much much higher potential in on-field performance for football.
Um, that change was due to the contract with the Big East and the SEC. I believe it would be logical that with the local school in the Big East, that relationship would be made even stronger likely eliminating CUSA completely from the bowl clearing the BE as sole participant each year.

Is there something that I'm missing???
You're right, that's what got Boise in. The difference is that Boise is a top 15 team pretty much every season. Memphis and Army both lose more than they win. He argued that Memphis sucks less. I responded by making the case that the positives Army brings to the table still outwiegh them sucking slightly more. By me saying the line you mentioned, I was looking to direct attention to Army's off the field strengths.
For example, you wouldn't argue Southern Miss brings more to a conference than Notre Dame would you? Even though Southern Miss had the better record and was ranked, there are still other factors that make Notre Dame the much better add. The same applies to Army. I'm not saying that Army = Notre Dame (they obviously don't), just trying to come up with an example.
As for Boise, There's a big difference between making the case from a win/loss perspective for a top 15 team that wins 11 games every season, compared to teams that win only four or 5. I don't believe you can judge these things in a vacuum. Boise's wins overrides their weaknesses. I'm arguing that Army's strengths override their losing more than Memphis' strengths override their losses.
Boise State will find things a bit more difficult playing the schedule they are going to have to play going forward. You do not believe me I know, but you will see. Attrition is a tough thing to deal with; top 15 will not be as easily done year in and year out. I love what Boise has done - knocking off the big boys to start a season. And I wish you could of had the chance at the BCS title at least one time in the past 5 years - would have loved to have seen it.
Remember your roots, my friend; Boise was not what it is today even 20 years ago. You had relaxed academic standards, built a program and racked up wins in a so/so league.
Yeah, I agree with you. Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing we're always gonna be at the top, I'm just looking at the past and saying that what we've done over the past decade earns us a spot in the BE is all. Things will no doubt get tougher and we'll have down seasons just like any other program at some point... but I look forward to the challenge of competing with the big boys. Should be a fun ride!
With Memphis, you have chosen to ignore the last decade in football and focused on the last three years.

I don't think there is any question about FedEx's interest in the University of Memphis. They are one of the single largest donors we have. Not to mention that FedEx CEO Fred Smith's son plays football for the Tigers.
Is FedEx paying all those unemployed head coaches salaries too? :-)
I unserstand FedEx pays for the naming rights of the arena. Does the university own the arena? Does any of that arena naming rights money go to the athletic program? Can FedEx financially support the football program? Thats what matters in all the realignment, not a baseball stadium.
It will be a part (if small) if a school might be considered a candidate in all sports. Reflects on commitment of the overall athletic program,

Your kidding right UNLV, New Mexico and Colorado State have been horrible. Colorado State is at least making some moves to get back to respectible but the others........

Agreed, substitute Hawaii and Fresno St for UNLV and New Mexico and that statement makes more sense

Zagoria and McNamara have both tweeted about Memphis to the Big East.
Sure is a lot of smoke and it's not coming from the Memphis camp. It's coming from people who regularly cover the Big East.

If Memphis does join- here's the conference schedule for them:
Home
Cincinnati
Syracuse
Rutgers
So Florida
Away
Connecticut
Louisville
Pittsburgh
Memphis would need to add 1 OOC game. They already have a FCS game.

They could keep one of the CUSA games as their OOC.

I don't see how a conference could prevent every school from playing us. Out of 11 other teams, there should be at least one who would do it.

While true- all the conference has their OOC schedules set- so there would be no opening next year.

Memphis and FSU have played off and on since 1959, with the Seminoles leading the series 7-10-1. I remember that damned tie like it was yesterday. Had them beat with seconds left in a drizzling rain, when a dubious pass interference call put them in field-goal position.
