Really? Have you looked at OU football over the years? The Golden Age wouldn't have to be that great.

Winning 9, 8, 10 games the past 3 years is still better than anything most MAC schools have ever done.

Early 2000s NIU won 8, 10, 9 games in three seasons. NIU has also had back to back 11 win seasons. Not impressed with the Bobcats. Go take your golden showers.

I said most MAC schools have never accomplished a three year run of winning 27 combined games.

Akron (no)
Buffalo (no)
EMU (no)
Kent State (no)
WMU (no)
Temple (no)

Okay I guess 6 schools in the MAC have never won like that but that is still a fairly large group in the MAC that would be more than happy to have Ohio's "Golden Age"

Now one needs to simply win the MAC East to achieve gold status? Ohio has been solid, but not golden. More like everyone getting a participation ribbon for trying their best.

Plus you have to play the Little Sisters of the Poor and Boy Scout Troop 302 out of Nelsonville, to get to those 8 wins. Because Solich doesn't have any balls to play, anyone tough in a non-conference schedule.

Why should he? It doesn't make any difference except more losses. You can win the East playing the easiest schedule you can manage. Why make it harder on yourself than necessary? You're not preparing for the playoffs.

+1

Ohio has always done better IMO on a lighter schedule. Its not a BCS caliber recruiting program.

Ohio has built a winning culture. You can't go bowling if you don't get atleast 8 wins. Several winning seasons and bowls starts to build a national reputation that helps recruiting against CUSA and other non-BCS conferences. Ohio has won some non-conference games vs non-bcs teams in recent years. You first have to beat CUSA, WAC, MWC and Sun Belt teams. While many MAC teams play 3 BCS games hoping for that big name upset. Beating a couple non-BCS team helps the MAC more in the long run by getting more teams in bowls and increases the conferences sagarin ratings.

Temple has won 26 in the last 3 years and everyone kills them for not being a solid program., I guess 1 more win would have gotten them to Golden Age status.
