UMASS keeps taking players from their rivals!!!
Their is a new school on the block and its UMASS!!!!!!!!

Julian Kaminoff committed to Buffalo a few weeks ago as a free safety, but the New Hope(Pa.)-Solebury High product is now heading to UMass after flipping his decision.

According to the Palm Beach Sun-Sentinel, Bernard Davis, a 6-2 180 pd WR from Lake Worth FL has verbaled to UMass. Davis had offers from Bowling Green, Georgia State and Western Michigan.

Malves I like your excitement but the original thread you started http://ncaabbs.com/showthread.php?tid=550203 may be a better spot to post this in rather than clogging up the board with another similar thread. Since this is a general MAC forum it might be best to avoid having similar threads in the same place.

Haven't been this excited about recruiting in a while. Will be interesting to see how the class is graded in comparison to the other MAC schools at the end of the day tomorrow!

Sam, I really don't think this is clogging up the board...03-hissyfit

I'm surprised players would pick doing their schooling in Amherst over Buffalo and playing their games at an NFL stadium 90 miles away.

UMass needs to be taking kids away from CUSA and Big East schools not fellow MAC programs!

Cool.

NIU vs. UMass in the MAC Championship! Let's make it an annual thing.

Again, it's mainly a result of UMass getting a very late start and never having spoken to any of these players before they committed elsewhere. Next year we'll be making our pitch to them on the same timetable as the rest of the MAC, and they should come straight to us if they prefer our pitch rather than hopscotching. We should also get a better shot at locking down some higher profile kids before the Cusa-Beast get to them. Getting them to come here after they've sold their soul to the beast isn't as easy.

Poor excuse, a decent IAA program should have been going after MAC quality players all along.

RE: UMASS keeps taking players from their rivals!!!
Last year's coaching staff was pretty sure they wouldn't be retained, so they didn't do much recruiting, plus we had several first year assistants who knew this was a one year gig. The few players they did target were ones they could take with them to their next jobs, mostly at lower level programs. It was a weird situation, upgrading to FBS after your worst coaching hire in 50 years. Molnar looks like he's got the program out of irons now. He had a whole lot of openings to fill in a short amount of time. If this is the worst he can do as a recruiter, we're in good shape.

Sorry, but I just find the approach very lame. Other MAC programs did a lot of work to identify and evaluate talent that was good enough for this level but not good enough to get swiped by a BCS school. They then built relationships pounding the pavement just so somebody else can step up at the last minute and say we have no idea about you other than other MAC schools are after you so we now want you too and why not come with us?

Seems he had the misfortune of being the 34th "commit" and Al Golden's fax machine usually breaks down from overuse on National Signing Day.

Kaminoff left right after Berry's verbal hit the wire. UB had six safeties in the class and Kaminoff was at best in the middle of the pack among them.

I don't think MAC coaches have a "gentlemen's agreement" on not taking other teams' verbals, do they?
