Air Force turned them down. So did BYU.

Isn't Navy one of those institutions which a few years ago so many on this messageboard strongly argued were not good enough for C-USA? SMU was another. Apparently class, tradition and academic excellence still matter to some. Those are the kind of schools I want my alma mater associated with.

I think they might make another run at Air Force. Some reports stated that AFA was waiting to see what Navy did.

Air Force would make 12.

FYP. Pitt is going to the ACC. You left out Rutgers.

Bottom Line: The "new" Big East is not markedly different than MWCUSA merged group. Is it a slightly better collection of TV properties and "big" markets? Sure. But its teams don't penetrate its markets and its teams are NOT brand names, for the msot part.

Yep...expect AFA to accept the bid now.

Good catch. I have corrected the original entry.

They knew Navy was going to take it when they said no. It won't change now.

I read an article not long ago, in which the Commander of the Academy said, he was not concerned with what Navy did.....Air Force was not interested.

Temple will be the last choice and the league will be set.

GOLDEN AGE

Please, Mister Rose, thrill the TIGER Nation with another heartfelt editorial on just how great this INCOMPETENT JACK@SS has been for MEMPHIS athletics.

GhostGray clearly lists his major offense - NOT having MEMPHIS fully ready for BCS membership after the 2003 humiliation of seeing USF get chosen ahead of our alma mater. No, the truth is....Coach Vacate was allocated mega resources for his BB empire while the FB program had to subsist on crumbs. The FAILURE to not properly address the needs for the FB program is what is biting MEMPHIS in the @ss right now.

HURRY UP AND RETIRE, RC.

GIVE IT A F'N REST ALREADY. YOU AND I AM TALKING ABOUT BOOSTERS ARE THE ONES RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CURRENT FOOTBALL PROGRAM. IT WAS YOU WHO TOLD TW TO STAY IN HIS PLACE, THAT CAL AND BASKETBALL WAS THE GOLDEN GOOSE ON CAMPUS. IT WAS YOU WHO REFUSED TO DONATE TO FOOTBALL UNTIL CAL SPIT IN FRED SMITH'S FACE. YOU CAN SIT AROUND AND PRETEND IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE' FAULT BUT THE RESPONSIBILITY LAYS DIRECTLY AT THE FEET OF YOU THE BOOSTERS.
