This is one of the Achilles Heels that I believe Mick has--a lot of kids go down hurt, and either try to play when they aren't 100%, and re-aggravate the injury, or they don't get treated properly at the outset, and a milder injury can become a major injury...we've seen this several times during his tenure as coach at UC.

If SK is hurt....he should sit and let some of the younger kids get some seasoning--it'll pay off in the long run.

Against Depaul you are correct. But against the Cuse, you play hurt. If SK misses shots and can't play defense then you take him out.

What are you talking about? If anything, he's been extra cautious with the injuries of Mbodj, Parker, and Guyn this year. If SK is cleared to play through the pain then I'm sure he will. He played at UConn in pain and that worked out pretty well.

@bkoch
Bill Koch
Sean Kilpatrick, who limped off the court with a groin injury on Saturday, is expected to play tonight, Mick Cronin says.

Ditto. Not sure what converll is getting at. Mick frequently says hes not a doctor and lets the docs decide whether there is a medical reason to hold a kid out. If not, Mick stresses D first and if SK is sandbagging it, Im pretty sure hell get pulled.

RE: SK Injury?!?
... You can play with SK's injury, it limits you, but if it becomes a big deal, I'm sure he'll be pulled.
In fact, a little bit of physical activity may be beneficial, it's just going to need to be a little bit more limited than usual.
He gets breaks, doesn't fall hard to the floor in the same spot, he'll be fine.

Not so much this year, but in years past, Mick (or his staff) have experienced milder injuries becoming exacerbated by having players either practice or play while injured....

I specifically remember an achilles that was torn in practice from working out before an adequate time to heal a more minor injury had passed (I forget the player, but it seemed he was a forward).

That's the one...

So you have one specific instance of one player that might have had a minor injury that turned into an achilles rupture. Sorry, but I call B.S.

The only other person I remember being hurt during Mick's tenure was Cash, and he had a freak accident blow out his ACL. And besides, I think Wright was managed pretty well last year considering as his knee didn't turn into complete garbage until the last tournament game- and he looks to be going strong about now.

RE: SK Injury?!?
Mike Williams blew out his achilles in an open gym before practices had started for the season, an activity with no coaches on hand for. I also do not remember him having a minor injury before it happening.
