New law allows police to search anyone carrying a helmet or backpack...I usually disagree with the whole "Police State" thing but this is clearly too far.

Thoughts...?

The protesters should have everyone bring backpacks full of packing peanuts.

I wasn't even thinking about the protesters...more just normal people who can be searched for any reason.

Them too. Everybody should just start carrying around a backpack. I was focusing on the protesters because they're going to be the main target.

Of course it is going too far. I see no problem with screening bags coming into the convention like they do at any large public gathering...but..What they have done now is give the police a new tool that most likely will not go away after the convention is gone. It is another example of how the police state slowly grows.
