ASU officially announces Dyer transfer.
JONESBORO (1/17/12) – Arkansas State head football coach Gus Malzahn announced Tuesday that running back Michael Dyer, a two-year letterman at Auburn and the Offensive MVPof the 2010 BCSNational Championship Game, has transferred to Arkansas State and signed a scholarship to play for the Red Wolves. The 5-9, 210-pound sophomore tailback will have two years of eligibility remaining at Arkansas State and will participate in the Red Wolves’ 2012 spring camp. “We are excited to have one of the top running backs in college football join our program, and we welcome him to our Arkansas State family,” said Malzahn. “Michael is obviously a proven player, and he will certainly make a great addition to our team.”
Dyer was an SEC Coaches’ All-Freshman Team selection in 2010 after rushing for 1,093 yards and five touchdowns. He was named First Team All-SEC in 2011, again eclipsing the 1,000-yard rushing mark with 1,242 to his credit. During his two seasons with the Tigers, Dyer rushed for 2,335 yards and 15 touchdowns. Prior to signing with Auburn, Dyer was one the nation’s top-rated recruits by several recruiting Web sites after earning All-America status at Little Rock Christian Academy. He finished his high school career with 8,097 yards rushing and 84 touchdowns, including 2,502 yards and 31 scores as a senior.

Why do I get the feeling that all this recent PR for stAte is similar to the UNT stadium pic threads....? Are yall tired of it yet?

Actually I never really got tired of the UNT photo threads. I kind of wished I had merged them into one like I did for FAU's.
It's fun to me to see the confrence getting better at football. Everyone has really improved either thier facilities or personell. Were still missing that top 25 team year in and year out. Hopefully that will come soon.

Never speak of the UNT new stadium, never. We all should not sponsor football now because they have it.
Just messing UNT fans it is pretty sweet.

As an outsider I enjoyed both the UNT and FAU stadium threads. Also enjoying the Malzahn and Dyer stuff. Hey isn't this one of the reasons to come to NCAAbbs?

Dyer's got to prove he can be an upstanding citizen and stay off the greenery for a whole year before he can even step on the field. I'm not saying he won't make it, but this conference has seen it's fair share of transfers with a troubled past never really living up to expectations.

I said it as a joke at first, but Jarboe's the perfect example. From all accounts, Jarboe has been the perfect student/athlete.

Well it also depends on how you look at Jarboe and there are several different ways to look at him.
From the perspective of troubled past high profile transfers to the conference, he should be viewed as a failure and a success. A failure at Troy and a success at stAte.
From the perspective of "living up to expectations on the field" while he had a pretty solid season this year, it's hard to say that going from a heralded recruit at one of the most storied programs in the history of football to a season in which he finished 2nd in receptions(54), 3rd in receiving yards(730) and tied for 3rd in receiving TDs(2) on his fourth collegiate roster as "living up to expectations". Of course with Frampton graduating, Jarboe has a shot at true redemption if he can step up next year and have an even better statistical season and start getting NFL talk.
The point I was really making is that this league is littered with once highly touted recruits from other schools. Some of them end up still not be able to be a good citizen and end up losing their 2nd chance. Many end up on the field and end up being solid contributors for their new team, some just kind of disappear and never really do anything of note on or off the field, but the majority of these transfers rarely live up to how they were hyped by the fans of the programs who pick them up and Jarboe(the Troy version) is the poster child of that.

Don't disagree that Jarboe didn't WOW us this year - but Stockemer, as we saw in the bowl game, is a BADASS. Jarboe had a lot to compete with for balls!
I do think Jarboe blocked well, and was hampered by injuries some.

Stockemer is the most under-rated, under-utilized receiver we have. Look at any of the past games, and it's sickening how much he is wide open on his routes. I wish that Aplin would look his way more often.
