Doing anything is an improvement on what Kent does to draw in students. OZoner makes a good point about it being a culture at OU. Kent basketball is not the culture on campus, and many students don't even realize our team is good (currently or over the past decade) until they've been here for a year or two and some never realize it. It's an afterthought rather than a point of pride. Tours for prospective students should be taken to the MACC and told "this is where you get to watch the back-to-back defending MAC regular season champs crush Akron." Individual visitors should be taken to a game. Have the team come out and talk to students at orientation. Anything to show students early on "we want you here and you should want to be here."

This is not at all basketball related, and I'm not picking on you, but this has really started to bug me. Nothing to do? It's 20-freaking-12. There are more entertainment options than there have ever been in the history of our species. Saying "nothing to do" is a lazy suburbanite's way of trying to justify their drinking. Drinking happens no matter how much there is "to do." If you can't find something to amuse yourself, that's your fault. You can't tell me Muncie or Oxford is hopping with more activity than Athens, yet Miami can't draw flies despite a program than been more successful than their rival's for 40 years.

And "middle of nowhere" is just code for "rural." Columbus is less than 90 minutes away and the Nelsonville bypass will make it even quicker. If people need a city, it's easily accessible.

Right. Basketball talk. It's simple indoctrination. If you're a future or prospective student and you take in an OU game and you like the O Zone, you're going to want to get involved. They have people recruiting incoming freshmen at orientation and have a table at the annual student involvement fair. After a time, it becomes self-sustaining. It's become a defining part of OU culture.

Probably less than half of Ohio's attendance come from the locals. Students and staff make up the majority. People driving from Columbus makes up a decent chunk. OU is good about lining up special weekends with basketball. Part of the reason Saturday might sell out is because it's Dad's Weekend.

Made me laugh.....Because it is so true.

Cooper banks in a 3 and they count the Baltic basket on a charge. Ridiculous. Speaking of ridiculous, can we get a basket?

RE: Kent State vs. Ohio University
I've always hated OU the most outside of Akron due to their fan base and that I got heckled by some fat hillbilly when I was a manager for the women's team.

In the last 40 minutes Kent has given up 101 points... This defense needs to step up. Also, we gotta start getting them off the offensive glass, 9 offensive rebounds in the first half is pretty bad.

If OU keeps up this percentage from the 3 point line, we aren't going to make a run.

Now all we are doing is chucking. Nice. Greene and Holt killed any/all momentum we had.

The only saving grace is that if UB finishes off the Zips, we will still only be 1 game out of first place.

I don't understand how it's the middle of January and we still have to same problems we had at the begining of the year. Poor rebounding an turnovers. We're too big and too athletic to be such a poor rebounding team.

They look like they cant be bothered to take care of the ball or put a body on someone when the ball is in the air. Pathetic, I'm really disappointed in the effort

I hate to say it, but I see a lot of what happened to Carolina last Saturday in this team.

RE: Kent State vs. Ohio University
The turnovers are troubling, but OU made shots. I said it this afternoon, and OU has canned a lot of 3's. DJ Cooper has gotten lucky 2x at the end of the shot clock and they have drilled a bunch of shots. It is what it is. OU still has to come to the MAC as does Buffalo and Akron. We will be fine, just not tonight.

Might as well clear the bench to make a point.
