ACC Lacrosse would get even stronger if ND and Nova joined the ACC. I wonder if ND would look out for a fellow Catholic school and say they want Nova to join with them instead of UConn.

No to Nova with or without ND.

I know nothing about Lacrosse. Where is a good place to learn the basics?

If you watch some games this season, the big regular season games air on ESPNU, that'll help you pick up on the rules too.

One of the bigger rivalries is SU vs UVA, and that airs March 4th on ESPNU.

Nova would need to step up their football to BCS level, first. Even the Big East was not happy with Nova's plan to do so.

Regardless, I do not see ND joining a conference until they have to and it is not likely to happen for some time.

Your best bet is to attend a game with someone who knows what's going on and will explain things to you.

Doesn't NC State have a club team?

I tried that with golf. Not sure I want to go down that path again.

NCSU does have a club team. They used to have a varsity team. They moved down to club level due to Title IX. They went 7-2 last year, 8-3 the year before. That's not ACC competition but not bad either.

They made the 8-team NCAA toruney in 79 loosing to eventual champ Johns Hopkins.
