Rumored New Defensive Coaches At WVU: Some Background Info
According to rumors, these are the coaches who may be taking over defensive coaching duties for the Mountaineers. Nothing is set in stone yet. But it's looking likely...

Rumored New Defensive Coaches At WVU: Some Background Info
Quote:With the defections of coaches Casteel, Kirelawich and Lockwood, the WVU football staff needs some replacements. The three most heavily rumored have been Joe DeForest, Brian Stewart and Zac Spavital. These are just the rumored possible coaches. Nothing is official until a release from the WVU Department of Athletics says it is. Now Brent Venables' name is also being mentioned. In the meantime, we've put together some basic info on the possible coaches to help everyone become more familiar with them. DeForest has already publicly stated he's coming (details remain to be worked out), so we'll look at him first:
My only question is what's going to happen to Steve Dunlap? He was WVU's DC during in '93, when the Mountaineer defense was ranked #1 in the nation...

Those are some good names. I'm sad to see Jeff go but he did a great job and I understand wanting to move on

It will be nice to go into the Big XII having coaches with intimate knowledge of Oklahoma and OSU, as well as the rest of the teams in the Big XII...

If you didn't care, then what the hell did you read this thread for? 03-banghead

It seems to me that you're being intentionally obtuse, trying to provoke an argument... 07-coffee3

Some think that Dunlap will either retire or possibly join Doc Holiday in Huntington. Haven't heard any mention of him being retained--his stints at Syracuse, NC State, etc. didn't work out all that well.

No offense...but seems silly to post who is going to be your new DC since you likely won't be in the conference next year if you get your way. Not sure how it's still relevant...much like I doubt WVU fans would care about who is gong to be USF'S New DC.

Just being honest....

Marshall would be a good job for him, if WVU doesn't retain him in some capacity, and he doesn't feel like retiring. It would keep him home in West Virginia. After all he is a native, and it would reunite him with some old friends...

If he doesn't stay at WVU and wants to keep coaching, that would probably be the best solution for him. It would come at a considerable reduction in salary. Marshall can't afford what WVU was paying him...

If you don't care, don't read the thread - and don't comment. But as long as WVU remains in the conference, it's relevant...

Just stating facts...

Cardshouse, as long as WVU is still in the conference, the news is relevant. If you don't like that, that's your problem. Not mine. Look for your posts in the smack forum from here on out...

Same with you, CyberBull. If you don't like it, don't read it, and don't comment...

cfbfan, Venables isn't coming either. But it's no problem. They aren't the only fish in the sea. Coaches are a dime a dozen, and they just come and go...

...if you don't like my comments, don't respond back.

WVU is doing its damnedest to get out of this conference and piss all over it. That is a fact.
