Could a Paul/Huntsman ticket beat Obama?
Both tonight soundly were favorable with Independents. That is 1/3 of the national electorate. I believe this ticket could rally the youth vote that Obama captured and used to win.

It would be a good ticket but I dont think Paul would ever pick Huntsman as his Veep. No reason to believe that as their economic beliefs arent as far apart as many would have you believe but I just feel that Paul would pick someone that is his carbon copy. Just a gut feeling.

I think Gary Johnson will be the LP nominee, and Ron Paul will not be on the ballot in November. I think he (RP) will give a very quiet, very tepid, as-late-as-possible endorsement of Romney, but his supporters/donors/activists will split 50/50 between Johnson and Romney.

Paul will endorse GJ if he doesn't get it. If he endorses Romney he isn't who I thought he was.

Unless he is promised something where he can have a major monetary policy impact. Can't see Romney doing that.

The mistake the last GOP candidate in 08 did.. was select a running mate that people really did not feel comfortable being #2 in line. Huntsman would not be that guy IMO. Ron would REALLY need a strong VP because of his age and Huntsman brings in the Fair/Flattaxers, Term limiters and Mormons.03-idea

Hasn't RP endorsed GOP presidential nominees before?

Not the last election cycle. He may have done so with Goldwater or Reagan.

He may have endorsed Bush in first term. Couldn't say. Hes not endorsing Romney unless he/Rand have been promised something big. Rand as VP or something.

Ron is now "the new father of Classical Liberalism". He has Rand and a bunch of others now in power that are pushing a similar ideology. This is not a sprint...it is a marathon.. and Ron sees the end in sight. He is not going to endorse anyone and is going all the way to the convention to further the Libertarian platform through education of that ideology. He is going to bring young people with him that will carry the torch for decades.

I believe Ron is setting the stage for the end of the 2 party system as we now know it. The game came close to changing with Perot...Paul IS the game changer!!04-bow

Even if Ron doesn't win the nomination I think this a win for Libertarianism in general. I think we're going to see more and more Libertarians winning general elections in Congress and so on. Personally I don't think this will end our 2 party system though. I think we're better suited at winning elections by staying in the GOP. IMHO

I thought RP endorsed Dole against Clinton, and Bush-43 against Gore and Kerry. Maybe not, but I thought so.

With Ron Paul retiring, I don't see him offering any tepid endorsements to people he doesn't like.

A fair point.

We'll see.

It is a fair point, but the driver may be what he thinks is best for his son's career.
