"The 25,412 fans who witnessed Syracuse’s game against Marquette at the Carrier Dome on Saturday helped set the mark for the largest crowd at a college basketball game this season.

Syracuse’s games against Seton Hall (25,081) and Florida (24,459) come in a Nos. 2 and 3."

"Syracuse has already sold 28,500 tickets to the Feb. 11 game against Connecticut"

"The regular season finale against Louisville on March 3 has reached 25,500 in sales."

"Approximately 24,000 tickets have been sold to the Feb. 8 game against Georgetown, which is on a Wednesday."

Next to last Syracuse-Georgetown game to be played in the Carrier Dome? 2012-13 game goes to DC, 2013-14, who knows.

I have a feeling that some of these crowds are helped by the uncertainty of our conference affiliation. I think Syracuse will see larger than normal crowds, for our remaining stay in the Big East.

Then we'll probably have larger than normal attendances for our first 1 or 2 seasons, in the ACC.

I think we'll see SU and GTown rotate home and away every season OOC. Same with Villanova and St Johns.

Louisville and Connecticut will probably be scheduled a lot, too.

Syracuse is not giving up two extra road games every December. Gross won't let it happen--20,000 versus Bing and Colgate still mean season ticket revenue which would be lost if Syr travels to DC or Philly. Would they play every other year in the Garden as befits "New York's team"? Perhaps. Washington? No.

Like the Georgetown-Boston College series (an annual series since 1946-47, but none since 2004), I think this one goes away. Is BC still playing Syracuse, UConn, or St. John's anymore these days?

I know Boeheim has been quoted in saying that Georgetown and St Johns will remain on the schedule. I don't remember if Gross has said anything on the matter, though,

I can see Syracuse playing St. John's, UConn or Georgetown but thats about it. Congrats on the ticket sales, the ACC will be getting a flagship program both on the court and the in the stands.

It still stinks that over years some of better rivalry in college basketball have been lost to conference realignment.

In a perfect world we'd be playing in the Big East still but....

In the future I see Hoyas and SJU most likely. I think Cuse wouldn't mind playing SJU every year in MSG if an agreement could be worked out over splitting the tix revenue. UConn and Nova I think will be splitting time with home and homes...However, Cuse might contact (as opposed to Nova) St Joe, Temple, etc...about playing a home and home if they host their game in Philly at the Big Boy Pro Arena. If GTown won't play ball with Cuse (and allow us to buy tix freely) I could them scheduling George Mason as a replacement. I think Rutgers goes away unless they get better (and they might under Rice) and the game can be moved to Newark. I see Louisville maybe a very occasional made for TV series.

Not for a season average in nearly 20 years...we averaged an amazing 29,000 fans a game in the 89-90 season.

What's the Carrier Dome's capacity for basketball games? How much different from football?

Football is just under 50k. It was lessened to make room for wheel chair seating.

Basketball is whatever we deem it to be. To be able to see the court, without moving it, capacity would be about 35k.

Not really. They usually end up with an average in the 23k-24k range by the end of the year, but when you add in that they usually will pull 33k for a couple of games per year, it means they have a few games with a lot less.
