BCS championship game musings
I hate to admit it, but despite my loathing for the SEC I did watch most all the game. Bama "D" was awesome, but I came away thinking that many other top 10 teams would've fared far better against the Crimson tide, as LSU's so-called skill players, particularly their QB, looked horrible. I have to think Okl State is a better team than LSU and wonder if the pollsters will put them at #2 in the final rankings..I'd drop them down to 4 or 5 if I were voting.
I expect the TV ratings to be down for this year, partly due to the match-up and partly due to the lack of exciting plays and offense (one TD in 8 qtrs of these two teams going at it).

You're right on the lack of exciting plays, but Alabama put up 384 yards and had 21 first downs against the #2 defense in the country
Oklahoma State put up 412 yards against #28 defense Stanford

There was some scoring, quite a few 'tight ends' running around trying to make a play, participants trying to penetrate the line, trash-talking galore and losers bawling. But enough about the Bachelor, how was the game?

This game just might have the worst TV ratings of all time. 9-0 at halftime ain't gettin anyone outside of Alabama excited about watching a second half. I hate to say this, but two teams from one conference won't pump up the public around the country...

This crap, which if I remember correctly was an ABC/ESPN concoction, should do even more to assist BTN and similar outlets. If the "worldwide leader in sports" is going to fabricate and hype an intra-conference MNC snoozefest, then why bother, why not just tune in to your preferred conference channel?

My son and I watched a good portion of the game. Maybe it's because we don't watch a lot of non-MAC football all year, but we really enjoyed it. He loves defense, so he loved watching the Tide D smother LSU.
I'm not a fan of the BCS system, but as a fan (and sometimes coach), I did enjoy this game.

They need to at least give 4 teams a shot at it. Or 8. That's still less than 7% of the teams getting into the playoffs, way less than any other major professional playoff setup.

16-team playoff from beginning of Dec ending on Jan 1.
Each conference can earn a slot if their top team meets certain pre-established requirements (not based on polls). Remaining slots filled by top ranked teams (may be based on polls).
In addition, 10-12 bowl games persist for entertainment, including to serve as a warm up for the Jan 1 championship game.

Hey Mobile Bama...even though I didn't care much for the so-called national championship game (plus I had to endure over 3 hrs of Brent Musburger...will he ever retire??), I wanted to send a shout out your way as it looked like another great Mobile experience for NIU and their fans at the GoDaddy.com Bowl. I am really sorry I wasn't able to attend the Miami games there due to the date of that game, but it's great to see the local support (even if they mostly do go home at halftime) and another very near (within a 1,000) sellout crowd and a great game!
