Notre Dame was far more talented and better coached than WVU. You had no chance.

Not so sure about "far" and they did have a chance up to the end, even with an injured Harris.

Yup that was a real good team---if he didn't get injured WVU might have won. It was much better than their 93 team.

Of course, it doesn't surprise me at all that you don't know this, or conveniently ignored it...

To put this in perspective though, the best teams that year (1988) were Notre Dame, Miami, Southern Cal and Michigan. The Irish beat each of them.
Miami had one loss, to the Irish.
Michigan had two losses, to Notre Dame and Miami.
Southern Cal had two losses, to Notre Dame and Michigan.
These 4 teams beat each other up.
Also, Florida State had one loss, to Miami.
This might've been Jimmy Johnson's last year in Miami.

After the regular season, West Virginia was the only viable undefeated team besides the Irish, so they played them in the Fiesta. Not sure WVa beat a ranked team that year? [EDIT: college football didn't have rematches back then, unlike this year... ]

WVU beat a very good ranked Cuse team in '88

Too lazy to see if Penn State was ranked that season.

Notre Dame crushed Penn State that year too.

Comparing the 2 games against Penn State, WVU had the better game. The game was over at halftime, and Nehlen emptied the bench in the 2nd half. That's the only reason Penn State scored as much as they did in that game...

Your statement is far more ridiculous. Notre dame won by 13 and it was only that 'close' because ND permitted WVU a garbage time TD. ND led 16-0 before WVU got a first down, led 23-6 at half, and 34-13 until the garbage time TD.

ND dominated the whole game, it was never in doubt. As for Harris, his injury reflected the ND dominance, as a good defense will hit the other teams star players hard and knock them out. WVU was the fourth best team ND played that year.

Notre Dame beat 4 teams ranked in the final AP top 10 that year. WVUs schedule was nothing like that.

So good defenses tackle guys out of bounds to injure them? Kind of like how LSU did the same to Noel Devine last year on a late hit out of bounds, which basically ruined his season, and any chance at the NFL...

If dirty play, like late hits out of bounds, is how good defenses play, I wish I was a DC against your team...

Was Notre Dame flagged on the play? In any event, it was an easy win for the irish, never in doubt.

I don't have time to argue bullsh!t like this with you today. Your nitpicking is wearing on my patience today. I've got far better things to occupy my mind. So screw this...
