NIU football needs to make "The Hard Way" the permanent slogan of the program. Even after is IPF is up and running, we need to identify with working hard and have chips on our shoulders.

BSU & Chris Peterson still uses the "blue collar" work ethic as their main team slogan.

I agree 100%. "The Hard Way" slogan should stick with this team it is a perfect one for the program. Im sure if you were to ask the players they would agree too

I've heard DD and a few players make reference to it, I'm sure it already is an unofficial motto adopted by the team.
The Hard Way chants have been going on in the locker room after games for the past 10 years. Started in the Novak era, thats what Napalm used to model the song after. Im pretty sure they are singing it in that video in the locker room after the Alabama win in 2003.
From what I was told, it started under Novak. I remember seeing a video of Hurd and Horvath singing it on the field after beating Miami in 04. It died a little bit under Kill, but when DD took over he absolutely loved it and wanted to use it more.
