PAC Commish says no more expansion likely
Looks like the Big XII just got a lot more stabilized with the PAC and BIG scheduling agreement.
We've obviously explored the possibility of going beyond 12 (teams)," Scott said in the ESPN.com report. "I've been a believer, philosophically, of that if it made sense. Now I don't see us expanding anytime in the foreseeable future. A lot of what we can do through collaborating with the Big Ten will help us accomplish some of the same things."
I think this is very good news for most, if not all, of us.

RE: PAC Commish says no more expansion likely
For today. We all know how many times people have said one thing in public, and turned around and done something else later on. If you'll note, he said he doesn't foresee it in foreseeable future. But the foreseeable future is when the next paycheck rolls around for anything relating to money...
I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock to his words at present...

RE: PAC Commish says no more expansion likely
I agree completely with bitcruncher that a healthy skepticism in public statements is warranted. However, I wonder how much of an appetite the Pac-12 really has for expansion. Unlike in the east and midwest where conferences are neighbors and/or overlap, they've got the west coast to themselves in terms of major programs. It's one thing for a conference to span just the east and central time zones, since they're only one hour apart, but the Mountain time zone is between the west coast and the midwest. Granted, they've expanded farther eastward with additional mountain zone schools in Utah and Colorado, but I can see the logic in stopping there. It's also been noted that current Pac-12 members do not want to further reduce their exposure in CA, and even the addition of TX wouldn't offset that loss in some ways.
The Pac-12 isn't going to be poached by eastern conferences, and they've got the whole west coast to themselves, plus the most attractive players in the Mountain time zone. While it would have been a big splash to grab the "Texoma 4" and go to 16, I can see them looking at this carefully and concluding that they don't need to grow any further.

The Big 12 became stable when ta&m and Mizzou left and TCU joined.
You have 4 TX teams and 2 OK teams that are happy to be in the Conference and 3 teams in ISU, KU, and KSU that do not have any realistic options even if they were unhappy.
I'm not convinced that WVU wouldn't bolt to the ACC or SEC if it was given the option, but they are most certainly happier and better off in the Big 12 than the Big East.
The Big 12 is in great shape.
