For Tireless Rebutter there is no such thing as a trivial dispute. He regards all challenges as barbarians at the gates. His unflagging tenacity in making his points numbs and eventually wears down the opposition. Confident that his arguments are sound, Tireless Rebutter can't understand why he is universally loathed.

You're just making things up now.

They don't include the MAC not because there is a conspiracy against the non-AQ conferences. They don't include them because it doesn't occur to them that anyone cares. And for the most part, they are right. They correctly assume that most college football fans want to know which major conferences did the best in the bowls. The minor conferences are irrelevant except to themselves. You either like MAC football or you don't. Expecting the rest of the country to care is like spitting into the Grand Canyon and waiting for the splash.

Um, they do include the MAC.

Um, no they didn't.

IF NIU beats Arkansas State a 4 - 1 record (.800) MAC will be fairly difficult to beat).

IF Big 12 splits their last two, then they are .750.

B1G would have to go 6 - 0 to finish .800 (8 - 2).

Big East would need to win out to go 4- 1 (.800).

C-USA needs to win out to finish 4 - 1.

SEC - they could be anywhere as they have almost all games yet to be played. (With 9 bowl games, 7 - 2 loses to 4 - 1 02-13-banana).

ACC, Pac-12, MWC, WAC, etc are toast.

Etc. etc.

I'm not sure how the NC game will be treated by the folks at ESPN.

That said, one loss by any other SEC team would be curtains.

If this award is for the conference who fared the best in the bowl season versus other leagues, then the LSU-Bama game won't be counted in the standings.

It would be nice if the MAC did something similar to men basketball and conferences played against each other for bragging rights for example the top 6 MAC football team vs C-USA or WAC

That could be the way of the future for non-AQ conferences.

C-USA has resisted giving the MAC 'the time of day' but the WAC might be interested.

The Big Whatever is doing its part to bring the trophy to the SEC. Michigan State might come through. Game vs. Georgia is gonna go down to the wire.

.... Purdue and Illinois could be the only Big10 wins! That is so funny. But the MAC still has a shot. We need a loss in the national title game. Okay so now what happens, they automatically lose that game.

Houston wins and C-USA moves to 3-1 like the MAC. If they prefer to count their bowl victories as member of the "Alliance", well, then, the results are not so rosy, partly due to the MAC going 2-zip vs MWC. By the way, I don't have ESPNU so I couldn't even watch the Houston game....hard to believe that match-up didn't rate a major national TV outlet.

Interesting it appears to be one of the conferences who would end up 4 - 1 (C-USA, MAC or Big East) will most like it.

B12 would have to go 7 - 1 (6 - 2 won't win it).

NIU/Ark State game is 'huge'.

A Kansas State win would end the Challenge Cup with a 7 - 1 record.

Oklahoma State's win last night/this morning was critical for their chances.

I don't think there was anything ESPN could do.

They have 3 major channels: ABC, ESPN and ESPN2.

Crazily, but the B1G had 4 games being played within the 1 - 3 p.m. EST window.

As everyone knows, the MAC has 5 bowl teams and 5 time slots spread over 4 days.

The B1G needs to find a way to get some of their games on more time slots.

Ticketcity.com is NOT the answer!! or it needs a different day.

If Kansas State wins, the Big XII finishes the season with 4 non-conference losses. I think that would answer the question on best conference this year.

K-State has to play Arkansas that isn't going to be easy.

For the bowl challenge cup this is what the MAC needs for results.

1) SMU to lose to Pitt. This is likely and will take CUSA out of the running.

2) WVU to lose to Clemson. This is also likely and will take BE out of the running.

3) K-State to lose to Arkansas. This game is a toss up.

4) Arkansas State to lose to NIU. This game is probably a toss up.

The MAC seriously has a chance at this but it could just as easily be the Big XII, Big East or CUSA as the bowl challenge champion.
