JagsJungle 2011-12 Bowl Season Thread
I took a nap during Temple's romp over Wyoming in the New Mexico Bowl. The end of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl was pretty exciting with Ohio scoring a TD with 13 seconds left for the go-ahead score. Now it's the New Orleans Bowl between ULL and San Diego State.

Our conference mates are looking good so far, leading 13-3 early in the 2nd quarter.

We have a chance with this bowl season to start our climb as a conference out of the celler. This will be a win over a MWC, and future big east school. We play Tuesday against a C-USA team that beat the conference champ early in the season.

What an end to the New Orleans Bowl, act 1. ULL wins on a last second field goal.

Can anyone tell me why New Orleans needs what will be this year 3 bowl games???

To think that some people would have deprived us of those two great football games. Too many bowl games? I think not.

I'm always happy to see the SBC get publicity but I still feel a little odd about rooting for a whole conference. I guess that's name of the game for the SBC or am I mistaken? Some of the posters on the main conference board are really, really into that whole ordeal.

I don't know, it just seems... odd. I suppose with no real rivals yet there's no reason not to root for the conference. Is it really that violent of a struggle to improve our overall standing? Do SBC schools really loathe being in their own conference and view it as an impediment?

I'm pretty new to SBC culture and would appreciate any enlightenment; I'm genuinely ignorant to this situation.

We should be just like the PAC12, MWC, CUSA, BIG12, BIG10, ACC, BE and SEC. When fans across the board cheer for the schools of their conference; then, why shouldn't we. Our desire to see our in conference teams achieve the victory should certainly be just as strong as any other conference.

It's sort of a pride thing.

You cheer for your conference because as they win, the conference becomes stonger. The stonger the conference, the stronger our team is preceived. It's kinda like getting into a fight with your brother, you want to whip him, but when he gets in a fight with the neighbor kid you want your brother to win.

I don't guess they need that many, but there are worse places to go play a ball game, I guess. I assume the fact that the NO Bowl was created for the SB when the leauge started FB, and the fact that the league's office is in NO has something to do with it.

Tiguar....is your "Roll Ducks Roll" cheer for the Ducks in the Rose Bowl vs Wisconsin.

Or, have you lived in Alabama to long. .......And, you are from Oregon?

No, it was from the 2010 BCS season where UA fans chanted it. Was just mentioning it as its the most fresh example of rooting against your conference. I don't recall seeing much rooting for ones own conference in the SEC.

I've lived in Alabama for the entirety of my relatively short life.

To be fair, most of us grew up on either Alabama or Auburn. That "fun animosity" towards one another was kind of built in. I don't feel the same with the SBC because we are so new to it. Plus, we need the SBC to shine for our own validity down the road once we start crushing the competition.
