While I was outwardly saying (posting) that
I believed this would be a rebuilding year and agreed with the predictions that we would finish 5th in the Division, down deep I thought we had a chance to be better. The reality is we aren't going to get a player who will be a game changer the second he steps on the court. Even WN has learning to do, and I was expecting too much from Javes after seeing him in the starting line-up to start the season. We basically have been competitive and were in position to beat some pretty good midmajor teams (ORU, SMU, MoState, Milwaukee). We just don't know how to finish at this point.

I don't buy the argument that we can't recruit a player who can step on the court and immediately be a game changer in our league. We might not get the player who could be a game changer in the ACC, SEC or that type of conference, but we should be able to find kids who can change games against mid major competition. And at least a few who can shoot the three point shot.03-banghead

You're right about a game changer right out of the box in most cases. The James Scott's don't come along very often at this level.
As far as expecting too much of Javes after seeing him in the starting lineup the first few games, makes me wonder why he was in there instead of Will Neighbour in the first place. There is no comparison between the two at this stage of their careers. A blooming idiot could probably see that. After watching Javes and Neighbour in one game, this one did. Will didn't have a good night last night. His early foul trouble hampered his game all night, offensively and defensively. Other than that, he's placed pretty doggone well so far. He's no rookie, he's played a lot of basketball and he's as old as I was when I finished college.

I like things I see in Javes too, and I still think he's going to be a player. At this point though, he's a very raw freshman, and can't shoot very well.

I'm dissapointed in the record but I still see hope for the future with our freshman and the freshman we signed for next year. I thought we'd find a way to win most of these home games but at least it's not a bunch of jr's and srs losing. Hopefully this experience will pay off in the next 3-5 years

A freshman should never be a game-changer. If he is, then your upperclassmen aren't very good.

Yes, but their upperclassmen never stay around. If they did these freshmen wouldn't be playing much.
