Gameday Experience
Hello folks.

I am working on a project and would love some feedback. As a new member of Big East I would love some information and insight from your fans about your experiences at games. To share with fans from other Big East schools so we have a first hand view of what to expect when fans take impending road trips. Any insight would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Your team:
Describe stadium and atmosphere
Tailgating scene?
How is the surrounding area?
How is the food? what kind of food - in stadium and during tailgate
What are some of the cool traditions before or during the game?
Thoughts on team jerseys
Biggest, most hated rival?
Would you recommend trip to visitors?

Other teams:
Best overall stadium
Best atmosphere
Best tailgate
Best surrounding area (bars, restaurants)
Nicest town
Best food
Best traditions
Best road trip
Best fans
Best jersey (team and combo)
in your opinion, not including your own team, biggest rivalry in CFB is ?
Where would you recommend your fans travel to?

best place to go for UH info would be Coogfans.com. I say best as in the most populated UH message board.

Your team:
Describe stadium and atmosphere Built in the 40's i think and has been expanded to 32k. It has palm trees in the stadium which is very cool. New Stadium by 2014 season, hope it has palm trees in it.

Tailgating scene?Tailgating is great and much larger than you would think you would find at a 32k stadium. tons of food and drinks to be scored for free by visiting fans.

How is the surrounding area? school is nice but stay out of the neighborhood next to it. Never have had any problems though.

How is the food? what kind of food - in stadium and during tailgate
food in the stadium is typical stuff, hotdogs mini pizzas but the high light is we sell beer and these margarita things that are actually pretty strong.

Tailgate food is out of control, BBQ of all sorts out their.

What are some of the cool traditions before or during the game?
The blaze is our oil field siren that goes off when we score, you either love it or hate it. another time honored tradition is for the old farts on the west side to yell sit down at everyone.

Thoughts on team jerseys I like the Nike Jerseys but the throw backs we wore for homecoming this year should be made our regular jersey. I prefer red jersey with white pants or white on white on the road.

Biggest, most hated rival?
Rice, we play for he Bayou Bucket each year. SMU since the move to the Big East announced will probably magnify now. Some will still say the SWC schools in the Big12 even though we haven't played most of them in years.

Would you recommend trip to visitors?
YES

Other teams: (Based off my experiences only)
Best overall stadium - Liberty Bowl, didn't find Rose bowl that impressive. Maybe because there were only 65k in it.

Best atmosphere - UH @ UT from what i remember

Best tailgate - UCLA on the golf course

Best surrounding area - Beale Street in Memphis

Nicest town - Ton to do in Austin

Best food - Austin

Best traditions - South Carolina only cause i haven't paid attention

Best road trip - Liberty Bowl

Best fans - Southern Miss

Best jersey (team and combo) - Michigan, Blue Jersey Maze Pants

in your opinion, not including your own team,
biggest rivalry in CFB is ? ND vs Michigan, only big game i know i watch every year.

Where would you recommend your fans travel to? Liberty bowl and stay at The Peabody Hotel. regardless if your in the game or not

RE: Gameday Experience
TexanMark Tailgate Guide is a great resource to look up. He is a Cuse fan that did an extensive gameday visitors guide to all of the current BE schools. Cuse will be moving on, so I expect to see him expand the guide to cover the ACC schools.

Your team:
Describe stadium and atmosphere: Nice stadium, newer stadium that has feel of a small pro one. Can be electrifying if Knights are doing well and we have a big game. Plan to wait on line forever to piss.
Tailgating scene? Tailgating is average. Lots officially open three and a half hours before game time, but you can get in earlier. Family friendly Kid Zone with bounce houses, games and prizes. RU fans are very welcoming of visitors and fair weathers.
How is the surrounding area? Stadium is in P'way across the river from NB was once a big ghetto, but the U and city have down a great job in trying to clean it up. Lots of good bars and restaurants. You can walk to the stadium from NB.
How is the food? what kind of food - in stadium and during tailgate: The food in the stadium is crap. Typical stadium food, usually over cooked and dry, sometimes cold as well. It is expansive for a college game as well. Just about anything can be found at tailgates. They run the gambit from wine and cheese, to subs and beer, to catered affairs, to anything that can be cooked on a grill.
What are some of the cool traditions before or during the game? Scarlet Walk, when the team arrives and goes into the stadium.
Thoughts on team jerseys. I like our red jerseys. I'd like to see our black ones have white lettering on them. My old eyes have trouble making out the numbers on them with the red lettering. Both black helmets were cool.
Biggest, most hated rival? For football, UConn has become what passes for the big rival. It used to be Cuse, but I can't think of a time when both schools were on equal levels for the game to be really meaningful. That game was more about NJ public vs NY private. It was a class warfare thing.
Would you recommend trip to visitors? Absolutely, RU is a great trip. It is easy to get to by planes, trains and automobiles. NB is a small city with its own night life and vibe. We are located almost dead center of NJ, about an hour south of NYC and an hour and a half north of Philly. It's also easy to get to the shore or to the mountains.
